I recently picked up my yellow Labrador Retriever after he received training from Texas Duck Dogs. Mr. Wade Cashion, owner and head trainer, took the time from his busy schedule to give me a tour of his property and training facility. Mr. Cashion walked me through various drills with my new dog which included land and water retrievals. My dog performed well. Mr. Cashion made sure all of the small details were covered both with me and my dog before I left his training facility. He also offered to allow me to come back to his facility to run my dog at anytime. We got our wonderful dog, Bear, as a puppy from Texas Duck Dogs. The whole process from the first inquiry all the way through the basic hunter program was fantastic. I just picked up Oakley, my chocolate lab, that has been at Texas Duck Dogs since she was 6 months old. During her time there, she finished the head start program, basic hunter program, and the senior hunter program. I was uneasy leaving her for the first time, but that fear quickly disappeared when I saw how happy she was to come back after her first weekend visit home. You could tell that her trainer, Garrett, really loved on her when she ran right back to him with a wagging tail. While she was there, through each step of the way, they kept me up to date with her progress and invited me out monthly to see how she was doing. I enjoyed seeing her progress each month. She’s a completely different dog now. She’s excellent with my kids and excellent in the field. Wade, thank you for all your guidance and advice as I navigated the journey of my first hunting dog. You put my mind at ease many many times. Garrett, thank you for all the time and effort you put into training Oakley. She absolutely loved training with you and I could tell how much you loved training her. You made it easy to trust she was in good hands. Lauren, thanks for keeping me up to date, fetching me pictures and videos when I was away and couldn’t come visit. Thanks for being so polite and quick with your responses and thanks for bridging the gap between me and Oakley while she was gone. In spite of one recent rift with a client, Wade Cashion is a man of honor! I’ve had three dogs with him at various times and very lengthy times. Wade finished one of the dogs a QA two and placed our dogs in many trials, including an open with one of our dogs. Wade has always done exactly what he said he would do and he is an expert dog trainer and handler. I hate to see someone blast him because he is truly a man of great character, a family man, and a man of God.
