The DOG

I can’t say enough good things about The Dog stayaway camp and training program. I’ve sent two of my dogs, Abby and Phoebe, and both came back noticeably better behaved, calmer, and happier. The training truly works. One of the things I love most about this facility is the huge grounds—there’s so much space for the dogs to run free, roam, and just be dogs. It’s clear they get plenty of exercise and enrichment. The trainers are amazing: patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. You can tell they love what they do. I also really appreciate the regular updates with pictures, which gives so much peace of mind. Your trainer is always at your fingertips if you have questions or need anything. The communication is excellent. That’s how much I trust them—I’ve even sent Abby just to camp and play, not even for training. If you’re looking for a safe space with gentle, effective training and people who truly care about your dog, this is the place. I wouldn’t take my dogs anywhere else.

We have been so blessed to have our dogs trained by the wonderful and caring staff at the DOG. They treat our furry family members like their own family! They have done an amazing job with all of our dogs-- whether they were our big Bernese Mountain dog or our small Cavalier King Charles spaniel. The team at the DOG has helped our puppies learn house training and commands to make our life with our dogs even more enjoyable. Our dogs love it at the DOG and always enjoy going back for boarding when we go away on vacation. The DOG is our dogs' home away from home!

The DOG has been our "go to" source for socialization, training and boarding of our 3 standard poodles nearly since their beginning. The DOG is run and staffed with professionally trained dog people who understand and truly love working with dogs. Dogs are not their hobby, dogs are their chosen profession. For over 12 years, The DOG has always been there for us, even in emergency situations. My dogs love going there and always come back happy. The DOG's beautiful, isolated location alone sets it apart, but the staff is what makes the place. Even though it is a longer transport for my dogs than some of my more local options, I have found that mine benefit from the socialization in the van and enjoy the trip. My larger dogs benefit from the huge outdoor areas, uncrowded conditions, and the personalized attention. I am so happy that a neighbor recommended them to me so many years ago!

We highly recommend the team at the Dog Obedience Girl (the DOG). They have been taking care of our dog, Kota, for over 3 years and we are happy to have become part of the pack. The DOG has provided Kota with training, day camp and boarding. Kota is playful, smart, curious and he loves being active and getting a lot attention. The team at the DOG understands this and has taken great care of him. It is a huge plus that the DOG provides a farm environment where Kota can run around – he always comes back well exercised and ready to rest. The DOG has a pick-up and drop-off service that we use and that has made scheduling easy and convenient. Kota is always super excited and ready to go when he sees the van from the DOG pull into the driveway to take him to day camp. It has also been helpful and convenient to have Joanne come to our home to reinforce training for Kota. The team at the DOG is easy to communicate with, responsive and flexible with our scheduling requests for day camp and for boarding. Being able to have Kota board in the care of the team at the DOG and in a familiar environment that he likes is helpful and makes caring for him so much easier, especially in light of our unpredictable schedules.
