The Dog Chapter

Jane is incredibly helpful with my challenging and high drive herding dog. She is working with us virtually (we’re 1000 miles from her). The short and frequent lessons and feedback make training feel doable- even with 2 young children and a full time job. She was supportive in the puppy phases, and I reached out recently for some help with assistance due to fear-based aggression, especially during vet visits. Her focus on kind and positive training has helped him become a solid family dog, and she’s now helping us navigate the greater world.

We had a dog that became very reactive about 6 months into our adoption. We found Jane through word of mouth. She was amazing. Our dog was incredibly challenging. Jane was able to find training solutions. She was supportive, patient, and non-judgmental. Her training methods included explaining, demonstrating, and sharing support videos. A can’t say enough wonderful things about Jane. She was wonderful for us. I highly recommend her as a dog trainer.

I went to my veterinarian to see if there were any physical issues that contributed to my dog’s apparent need to react to the world by over the top lunging, barking, and sometimes use of his teeth, and inter household aggression. Thankfully, my vet gave both a clean bill of health AND a business card for Jane Jackson at Bookends Farm/The Dog Chapter. Jane immediately responded to my request for help the very same day I contacted her. Her calm, intelligent insights into my dog’s actions have helped me view my pup in a new light. She has helped me identify realistic goals for Woody and I, and together we’ve developed training plans to get us there. Positive training and feedback for both my dog AND me. Jane is continually investing in her own training education, and generously shares this new knowledge with her students. Woody and I definitely have more work to put in to make the world a more comfortable place for us. With Jane’s continued help and guidance, we are getting there. I would highly recommend her services to any dog guardian.
