John, the Dog Clicker owner trainer, is unparalleled. He's worked with two of our dogs at this point, and he was instrumental in helping us figure out what sort of dog would work best for our family. When we needed help with an older, rescue dog who was highly reactive on walks, John helped us make walks manageable. He also taught us how our dog was thinking and what was going on with him. With our puppy, John took us through the first steps of training her, and set up a situation in which we could create a positive dynamic between her and the kids. It was a very good experience working with john. He had a number of suggestions to help manage progress with our two rescues: Bruce (1-year-old high energy lab/shepherd mix) and Tillie (3-year-old border collie/bisenji mix). Bruce joined us two months ago, and we've had Tillie for 2.5 years. The dogs have been getting along but sometimes the play seems rough (John watched them on video and in person and informed us the activity looked normal, and he offered signs to look out for when monitoring them). Bruce is always energetic, panting, and ready for action. John had suggestions like points on the dogs body to massage that calms them and preferred herbal supplements that should be used in conjunction with training. Bruce has habits of jumping up when greeting people, being mouthy when playing, and pulling when walking on leash. My husband and I have been overwhelmed with advice from books and websites, and John helped so much to sort through it and redirect us to the best processes. He has a calm and patient approach, and our dogs both loved working with him. He answered all of our questions with informed and experienced guidance. He provided a thorough written recap, a printed training guide on down-training, a Protocol for Relaxation, and many recommendations for published trainers to trust. John came with a strong recommendation from our friend at the rescue where we got both dogs (See Spot Rescued), and we would highly recommend John to others.

John, of the Dog Clicker, is amazing. He truly understands the behavior of dogs and helps you to train them in a very positive way. My dog was leash reactive to very specific things — because he was fearful — and we worked on positive ways for him to be less reactive to mail trucks for example. John is also great at getting the humans to better understand and communicate with their dogs (and correct our behavior too). John is very easy to work with and always tailors training to your dog.
