Our dachshund, Schatzi, was incredibly receptive to the Dog Wizard methods, and every week, we saw noticeable improvements. I can’t say enough good things about The Dog Wizard St. Johns! I brought my 5-year-old dachshund, Pico, to them, fully convinced he was too stubborn to learn. Dachshunds are notorious for their independence, and Pico was no exception—he did things his way, on his time. From the moment we started training, Mallory, our amazing trainer, completely changed my perspective. Her patience, expertise, and genuine love for what she does made all the difference. She was so calm and consistent with Pico, and I couldn’t believe how receptive he became to her guidance. Mallory took the time to tailor Pico’s training to his personality and my goals for him, I love that it was a customized approach rather than a “one size fits all” approach. She broke down each skill into manageable steps that worked for him. By the end of the program, Pico had become focused, responsive, and eager to please. The Dog Wizard’s team was professional, supportive, and always available to answer my questions. They made me feel confident in maintaining Pico’s progress at home. Would give 464849944 stars if I could. Before starting training with The Dog Wizard, our Border Collie, Shoe, was a bundle of behavioral and obedience challenges. He desperately needed structure and socialization, and we were overwhelmed trying to provide it on our own. At times, Shoe would even snap at our kiddos, which deeply worried us. We were scared it might get to the point where we’d have to consider rehoming him. Shoe was incredibly reactive, struggled to settle down, and constantly operated at “an 11” on a scale of 1 to 10 when it came to energy levels! On top of that, loose leash walking was a nightmare despite completing two PetSmart training courses, which only taught him a few basic commands—and let’s be honest, he only followed those because he knew there’d be food involved. Fast forward to today, and Shoe is a completely transformed dog. At just 8 months old, he now has a calm, chill demeanor, even at home! He has no trouble settling down and has mastered the place command, which I believe was a game-changer in helping him develop an “off-switch.” Loose leash walking is no longer a struggle but an enjoyable part of our daily routine. Shoe did have other issues arise during training (as puppies often do!), but Daniel and the incredible team at The Dog Wizard were always there for us. Daniel was quick to respond to every single question I had—trust me, there were a lot! He never made me feel like a burden and was genuinely invested in Shoe’s progress. What stood out to me the most was his willingness to seek advice from their lead trainer when needed, which shows their commitment to problem-solving and teamwork. The Dog Wizard’s collaborative approach is absolutely top-notch. Thanks to this training, I now have the tools and confidence to maintain structure at home. The team not only helped me address Shoe’s behavior but also guided me on creating a better dynamic between him and my kids. This has made such a positive impact on their relationship, and I truly believe it will only get better from here. I can’t say enough amazing things about Daniel and The Dog Wizard family! The photos and videos they shared on Instagram throughout the training process were a delightful bonus—I loved seeing Shoe’s progress in action.
