The DogPa K9 Training

A great experience all around. Margot, our 4-year-old brittany, spent 2 weeks with Nicholas for the board and train program. I’ll always say she had a good baseline skill and knowledge level (“parents” always think the best, right?) but her participation in the program took things to a new level. One of Margot’s biggest pre-training issues was respecting the spatial boundaries of her owners, friends, and family. She’d often get too excited when people entered the house and struggle not to jump. All thought of responding to real verbal instruction went out the window. She’s still an eager and friendly lady when guests are around now but has gotten leaps and bounds better at allowing folks to get their feet under them before coming to great them. She is much more receptive to our verbal commands and reminders. She really seems to appreciate the calm that has come with the change. She learned boundaries are there for a reason and life is easier and better for all of us when these are respected. All of the training walks, outings, and excursions really opened Margot’s world. She had always been a bit too excitable on walks; not necessarily jumping and roaming all over the place but definitely too interested in putting her nose to the ground and focusing on each and every thing she passed. This wore her and us out. All of her heel training during the program has changed everything for us all. We’ll always continue learning and improving, but she is an exponentially more gentle and considerate walker now. We’re so excited to continue showing her new and exciting places. The program taught Margot an immense amount in just 2 weeks. I wasn’t sure how any of us would deal with the time away but the daily updates from Nicholas were incredible. They were in-depth and informative. We learned so much watching those videos. They also helped us feel closer to Margot and the process overall during her time away. We all felt truly connected the entire time. The detailed person training we enjoyed at pick up following the 2 week stay was monumental. We learned tons watching the daily update videos but greatly value the time he spent moving through the mechanics of the techniques learned throughout the program. We’ll continue working and learning but have a truly Nicholas was a true professional throughout the process. He laid out the entire training road map for us pre- and post-stay. Everything was spelled out and walked through. Margot had some minor issues related to a previously unknown skin sensitivity that came up during her time with Nicholas. He was able to assess and address the situation immediately. We were informed promptly. It was clear he had our pup’s best interests at heart throughout. We could also tell Margot was loved and cared for while she was away at “camp.” You can trust your pet will be cared for and respected during their time with Nicholas and his family. Nicholas at The DogPa K9 Training came recommended to us for our new mini goldendoodle. We really wanted someone that could help us get her started off on the right foot from the moment we brought her home so she could form good habits young and learn all the basic commands. Nicholas exceeded our expectations. Miley was learning to post, sit, and come after the first training session and has continued to build upon this since. He was extremely kind and always explained the “why” behind everything we were doing. Miley has grown to love going to training and we are sad we are done for now, but we can assure you this is where we will be going for any future training needs 😊
