Since coming to my first puppy class last summer, I have enrolled in both Agility and Flyball classes. The instructors are wonderful. I hope to continue to work with my Brussels Griffon at the Dog Spot and would like to compete in both areas. They are helping me toward that goal.

What kind of experience do your trainers have? Are they certified?
Just like other professions, dog trainers specialize in different areas of training: i.e., Puppy Socialization, Canine Good Citizen, Therapy Dogs, Agility, K9 Nose Work®, K9 Fitness, Reactive Dog, and others. When you train with us, you’ll receive instruction from some of the best educated and highest credentialed trainers in their areas of specialty. Providing the most up-to-date, effective, and fun training is our top priority. For this reason, all instructors are committed to continuing their education in canine cognition, training, and behavior. And to top it off, by training with us you’ll also have more class options than any other training facility in the greater KC area. You can see the individual certifications for each of our trainers on our website, at: https://www.thedogsspot.com/trainers/kansascity

Is there an orientation class in person? We were wanting to see the facility before we commit to classes.
All of our orientation classes are currently being held remotely. However, we'd be happy to have you drop by our facility anytime we're open to give you a tour and answer any questions you have. Just let us know when you'd like to come by so we can have someone available to speak with you. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Thank you! Laura

How lo g is the agility training and what is the cost
Agility Fundamentals is the first class in the Agility series. This six-week class is geared toward the dog/handler team whose long-term goal is to compete, learn a new sport, or just have fun. This course covers equipment and team communication skills. As the handler's and dog's skills progress, they will be introduced to sequencing, polishing obstacle performance, building the dog's confidence and enthusiasm, and introducing the handler to basic course analysis skills. This is a foundation course and will require homework to ensure the dog's long-term success. The cost of this six-week class is: $249. The second class in the series is Agility Fundamentals II. This six-week class is geared to the dog/handler team that is continuing on from the Fundamentals level. This class costs: $249. You can also purchase the bundle for both classes at: $459.

What the cost
Generally classes start at about $30 an hour. But, you can buy packages and save money. The first two sets of puppy classes are purchased for each entire course. After that you get punch cards and can enroll in one week at a time. So, for example as we moved from the second course Surviving Adolescents to the more advanced classes, we only spent a week in each of the intermediate classes before we were able to start the canine good citizen classes. Since I didn't have spend weeks in classes my dog didn't need, I feel like we saved money. If all goes well we will complete the good citizen classes in 4 or 5 sessions. Thus saving time and money. I have been VERY happy with the training methods that are used and drive from east of Raytown. I am currently training my new pup with Laura and she trained my 13 year old pup when he was a baby and I have a lot of respect for her and her methods

We did puppy training with KJ & she is amazing! So full of knowledge and loves what she does. We are looking forward to another class here in the future!
I highly recommend Natalie Perryman. She is very knowledgeable and hands down the best dog trainer I have had. My pup Biscuit and I enjoyed working with her. I will be signing up for more classes! 🐶
Trainer was amazing along with the assisting staff members. Our dog Brandi (six month old beagle/Boston terrier mix)improved with her social skills and simple commands. We respect the philosophy of fear free training that the Dog Spot practices.

Our dog, Taro, just completed Reactive Dog 1 with KJ. Definitely one of the best decisions we've made for him! The progress that he's shown in the past 6 weeks is so much more than we could have done on our own. KJ is a great instructor, and she also continually sent additional info about just improving our dogs lives in general aside from just reactivity. The classroom environment is also a great place to clearly see your dog's improvement over time. Highly recommend
