The Fine Canine Dog Training & Boarding

I worked with the owner of Fine Canine and I have never been happier with my choice! I met with her regarding my 2 year old terrier mix starting to become aggressive with other dogs at the dog park and being overprotective with me on the leash. Before we got started Monica asked about my dog's history to get a better understanding of why she was a playful dog and became more aggressive recently. I mentioned she was attacked by 4 dogs in the dog park. She was not hurt because I got to her fast enough, but she believed that it may have left my dog fearful. Once she had a better understanding we got to work right away. We went through several drills with my dog on a gentle lead. Monica was very observant and was able to give me and my dog corrections. She gave me insight on the personality of my dog and it made me feel like I was training with someone who is really experienced, which gave me hope. Soon we were able to invite passive dogs into the training area and my dog had no reaction! At the end of the session we were able to walk my dog, Mishka, with a bullmastiff and a smaller dog without any reaction. When the session was over Monica gave me the tools to continue the training at home and mentioned that it would take time but if we were consistent we would see improvement. It has been a couple weeks and I am soooo HAPPY! I am now able to walk my dog around the neighborhood without having to cross the street when another dog comes. I have been taking my dog for longer walks to practice training and to forest preserves where there are other dogs on a leash and Mishka has had no reaction. When another dog comes up to my dog or barks at her from their yard she now sits right next to me and stares at me waiting for her treat. I have never felt so relieved! I know it takes time but I am very thrilled with the results so far so I can imagine it will only get better.

The fine canine is one of the best dog training facilities out there! Monica and her crew are excellent teachers never give up on their dog students and pet parents! I have taken my nine month old American bulldog to Monica and her team since he was eight weeks old, she has help me turn my stubborn and dominant puppy into a well mannered adolescent dog. Monica and her team are never afraid to go the extra mile even if it means staying after class. They will never give up on a puppy even though mine tried to test them many times. Monica never makes you feel like you are a bad puppy parent if you don't understand something she will help you until your dog has mastered it. I would highly recommend Monica and her team at the fine canine to any dog parents!

Had a one-hour private lesson with Monica and our 1 year-old German Shepherd Tiger last week. Within that hour (she actually worked with our dog for 90 minute for that one-hour charge) Monica had our dog walking at our side instead of pulling our arm out, sitting every time we stopped, and no longer mouthing his leash as he walked. Now granted, we have to continue working with Tiger on our own with what Monica taught us, but we were very impressed that she was able to accomplish so much in just one session. Monica spent every minute working gently with Tiger and teaching us simple commands that we could use at home. She stayed focused on fixing our issues we had with Tiger, and wasted no time. Liked Monica so much we just signed up for Monica's obedience class at Tail Gate

We adopted a 4 yr old rescue dog who had never had training before. Monica was able to teach our little guy the basic obedience commands, which is huge! Now my family can tell him what to do and he knows what we expect. Having "stay" and go to "place" are my favorites : ) I never would have known where to start with him. We did a board-and-train while we were on vacation. We came home to a whole new dynamic with the dog. It's been great!

Monica came to our home for a private instruction with our 10 week old yellow lab. I loved the idea that he was able to learn in his own environment - and that Monica could witness him there, as well. It was important for my husband and I also to include our children in all lessons with our pup. She taught the kids how to deal with him nipping at their ankles & shoes. She also provided them the instruction they would need to work on commands with him. The most helpful has been the 'wait' command as you cross thresholds so that he doesn't barrel out of the door in the house or the car. She was very patient with all of us - and very effective with her methods. Our pup was performing 'down' by a hand command before she left - and continues to do well with continued training. She was a great resource for questions - very anxious to help with suggestions for common puppy problems. Very pleased with our in-home training experience with Monica!
