Justin is most likely the very best in this space. He is smart and knowledgeable and we have never worked with anyone remotely close to his level. He took his time and was loving and patient with our dog, Namath, who was literally afraid of everything when we rescued him. I can't imagine what we would have done if we had not found Justin/The Language of Dogs. When we first met our dog Captain, he was a 7-week-old stray in Anguilla—handsome beyond words but painfully shy. We thought he’d outgrow it, but when we moved back to New York City, his shyness turned into a paralyzing fear of people. Even simple walks were a challenge; he was constantly anxious and on alert. That’s when Justin stepped in. From day one, he focused on building Captain’s confidence through structured command and leash training. His positive, clear approach not only helped Captain feel secure but also helped to strengthen our bond with him. Despite being terrified of strangers, Captain trusted Justin right away — something that had never happened before. Justin was patient yet firm, guiding both us and Captain through every stage of the training process. He always believed in Captain’s success even when we doubted ourselves, and his confidence was contagious. Captain will turn 5 this month. He knows about a dozen commands, is e-collar trained, has (almost) perfect recall and a bunch of trusted human friends. He's come such a long way and we attribute all of his success to the time and care Justin put into training with him. Justin understands dogs like no one else I know, he’s honest in his approach to teaching and really instills confidence in people. His explanations are clear and his dog Brutas is the absolute man. They are such a great team! In single sessions I’ve seen dogs go from reactive to chilled, shut down to playful and dragging their owners to heeling perfectly. I have worked with and for other trainers and his knowledge and experience is second to none.

I have a 4 year old lab/Shepard mix named Mabel! I got her when she was 8months old from Rescue City (sounds like party city for dogs). Mabel had some dog reactivity and the methods I was trying were not working. That’s when I called Justin. Justin has such an innate intelligence when it comes to dogs. He knows the challenges that big drivey dogs like Mabel face in the city. After our first session with him I felt empowered with knowledge and skills to keep Mabel and other dogs who may approach her safe. We completed 5 sessions with Justin and now I feel confident every time we go out. Mabel’s recall is excellent, she can be off leash and since working with Justin her reactivity is completely manageable. It was the best investment of time and money I have ever made. I cannot stress enough how much I recommend Justin’s training program. I was at my wits end feeling hopeless - and he saved me and my best friend.
