The Perfect Pup

Working with Mike at The Perfect Pup was a wonderful experience. Scheduling sessions was very easy and Mike was a pleasure to work with. Most importantly, Mike didn't just show us what to do, he carefully explained the rationale for employing each command, each step of the process so that we could understand it's importance. Mike truly enjoys his job and this enthusiasm and positivity is reflected in his work. He makes himself available for any questions you may have even long after the training sessions have been concluded. I can recommend The Perfect Pup without reservation.

Mike loves dogs, which was first and foremost for us. His training concept of correction without aggressive tactics and not using food is genius! Mike's experience shows he has so many tips and suggestions. Our golden retriever pup (now five months old), Augie, is so well-behaved in such a short period. Mike helped us with house training and showed us to be patient and to take advantage of every correction so Augie could learn for a lifetime. He also helps us with, to name a few, heal, sit, place, stay, down, boarders (keep your dog from running out of the street), and many more valuable commands. Mike and his team are amicable, fun, and easy to get along with. We look forward to continuing to work with Mike as our dog learns what Mike and his team shared with us. My husband and I decided to get a trainer for our 4 month old puppy as he was showing some behaviours we did not anticipate or knew how to handle properly. He started developing resource gurarding with food and Toys. He also would jump and bite us when very excited and it was very hard to control and manage for the two of us even working from home and being with him 24/7. We had reached out to several trainers but were not happy with the training methods and structure of the program. Before deciding to have a trainer in person we had tried Goodpup and lots of positive reinforcement training with him which helped to learn tricks and commands but without having treats he refused to listen to commands. When we reached out to Mike and told him our concerns he gave us some tips and we ultimately chose to put him on the board and training program for 3 weeks. He came back from Mike fully potty trained and he has learned all his basic commands. He learned how to settle in “place”. Before we sent our puppy to Mike it was very difficult for us to have him settle down in any area of the house other than keeping him in the playpen or crate. When Mike picked him up, he said that we did not need indoor potty training equipment for him or a playpen anymore and we are glad to say he was right. He’s been the calmest I have ever seen him after coming back from Mike. He also sleeps thorugh the night without having accidents. He walks great on leash and knows his recall. He is no longer scared of car rides after coming back from Mike. Although he’s still guarding some other things, Mike has given us the knowledge on how to handle him. Also anytime we have any question, Mike is always there to answer them for us. He also does boarding for our puppy when we travel. It has been the best investment for our puppy so far and My husband and I are very happy that we went with Mike.
