FirstBarkSarah was amazing with my dog, Rupert. Rupert had bad “stranger danger” when people would come to the home. Thanks to Sarah’s guidance he is calmer and is better with guests in the home. I have had other trainers come but The Persuades Pooch’s stranger danger package is well worth it. I no longer stress when people come over and my dog is a lot happier. Thanks Sarah!

We are soon getting a puppy. We haven't had a puppy for about 12 years. We'd like to do a better job of training this one. How soon should we start a class?
Hi Jeanne, thank you so much for contacting The Persuaded Pooch. Congratulations on your new pup... How exciting! Normally, I would say that your pup should come to puppy class at 8 weeks of age for socialization. However, we are not able to have puppy classes currently due to restrictions on the space. Therefore, we recommend private training as soon as possible after you bring your puppy home. Sometimes we have clients book the New Puppy Consultation even before they bring their puppy home, so we can help them be prepared from Day 1. Do you train dogs to be therapy dogs? If so, what is the cost and length of training
Hi John! Thank you for your message. We do not certify therapy dogs. However, if you are seeking to get into a therapy dog certification program, or refine your dog’s therapy dog skills once you are in a program, we can assist. We've worked with Sarah twice now- our puppy went to her training school and Sarah recently solved a problem for us with just a consult. Nicole from Persuaded Pooch was a lifesaver for our family and dog, Smokey. Smokey was having a lot of issues settling into our home after we had adopted him from a local rescue. Nicole set us on the path to success through clicker training and some environmental modifications to get Smokey more comfortable in the home and around guests/neighbors. Smokey was also having a LOT of leash reactivity with people, dogs, cars, really everything. Within a few training sessions Nicole had helped us alleviate his reactivity to all but dogs, and he is making great progress there as well. I would highly recommend Nicole and Persuaded Pooch. Their training approach, experience, and detailed, personalized training plans are well worth the investment.

Nicole has helped us socialize and train our English Mastiff puppy and we could not be happier. Our biggest issue was that he was afraid of his own shadow; Nicole helped us work through a bunch of those issues and more importantly, taught us how to respond when new situations come up. He went from not wanting to leave the perimeter of our yard to walking confidently around the block. We're still working on the rest of the neighborhood (😆), but we know we have all the tools to get there!

We had trouble with an anxious dog that would growl at my 5 year old son. Sarah met with us and assessed the situation. Then through 4 training sessions, taught me how to train my dog, which helps to ease her anxiety. She also taught me how to regularly interact with my dog to encourage good behavior and discourage bad behavior in daily life. She was very thorough in helping me teach my son how to interact with my dog as well. The wholistic, all-around approach to solving our problem was unique and customized to my situation, which I appreciate greatly! Sarah was wonderful to work with, had great communication, and continues to follow up to ensure we have achieved the results we are looking for.
