The Pet Republic

I have a staffie mix (pitbull terrier) puppy who is above average intelligence. He got sit, stay and down within the first thirty minutes of class and we found ourselves looking for more of a challenge the next three classes that also only focused on those three commands. He also didn't get very good socialization with the two other puppies in class which I suppose is just luck of the draw when you sign up. That being said the staff was informed, friendly and welcoming.

I have had labs since 1981, and have tried many different strategies to train them. My last lab I received at 11 months old, and she had never learned to sit. I couldn't get her to learn it. Tried for several months without success. I decided to try pet republic puppy class. I have never used the clicker training. It was a very successful strategy, with the trainer being very calm and consistent. Strongly recommend, no matter the age

We took the basic manners class with our new dog, just a few weeks after bringing him home. It was excellent. The goals and pacing of the class were right on for what we wanted. The instructor was great: energetic, organized, patient, clear, personable, skillful...all of the things. Class size maxed out at four dogs, so everyone got plenty of attention. When our dog wasn't responding to certain training approaches, the instructor was helpful in finding alternatives. And when our dog took to behaviors easily, the instructor helped come up with more challenging versions. The homework assignments are all well-documented and clear, which made follow-up at home easier. I can't say our dog mastered everything in the class, but I do think we made tangible progress in all of the behaviors (some more than others). We're already thinking about what class to take next.
