The Right Paw

I worked with Mallory several years ago to solve my huskies dog reactivity. After six weeks of dedicated work and collaboration we not only solved her reactivity issues, but built a strong foundation for off-leash adventures. Fast forward several years later, BamBam hikes and mountain bikes all over the country with me. A few weeks ago Mallory accompanied me for a puppy adoption intro. The heeler mix was the last of his litter at the shelter due to how rambunctious he was, and they were hesitant to adopt him out. After witnessing how well Alabama listened to her off-leash commands while in full play mode they were sold. The head of the shelter told me the staff could do not believe how well they got along and Bama’s training was “amazing.” Now my home is filled with the play grumbles of two best friends.

Mallory at the Right Paw helped us in ways that no amount of stars would be able to represent. We came to her when our dog was 7 months old to help with recall and ecollar training and she was thorough, well educated, humane, practical, and an amazing teacher. She helped us learn/teach the building blocks of a positive relationship with our dog as it related to our goals and the six sessions 1:1 with her has honestly been some of the best money and time I’ve ever spent. She was always a text or call away whenever I was breaking down about a training “mistake” I thought I had made in between sessions. She truly helped our dog listen to US- not the remote/collar- through positive and clear relationship building. I consider myself someone who knows a lot about dogs and their behavior, but Mallory has taught me something new everytime I’ve spoken with her and humbly helped me see areas where I was miscommunicating with my dog and understand best practices. I can’t thank her enough for the peace of mind she has helped us achieve with the training of our dog. She helped us understand our dog’s behavior as it relates to her instincts, her breed traits, her age etc. and taught us in various settings to help with the specific thing were working on. I can now walk my dog, Baze, off leash in the woods without anxiety (even during porcupine season), take her with me to the barn I work at part time without concern when she’s off leash (even in the dark), and l ride horses with her running beside me without worrying about being unable to control her or keep her safe. I feel confident in our skills wherever we go and hope to keep working on additional goals with Mallory in the future. Honestly this was one of the best decisions, if not THE best decision I’ve made when it comes to my dog.

We used The Right Paw’s services to assist with leash reactivity for our 3 year old rescue. In 6 lessons we went from not being able to walk our dog down the street due to dogs, people, kids to being able to tolerate all of the above on our street, the rail trail AND breweries. We are extremely grateful for The Right Paw and Jill’s services. She gave use tools and set up experiences that were challenging and successful to build Duke’s and our confidence to tackle any situation. Thank you!

I first went to The Right Paw in 2021 for a weekend workshop and trial where I was immediately impressed by the professionalism of Jen, her facility and the entire TRP team. A real stand out in the dog industry! Since then I have participated in a virtual mentorship program with Jen to learn to improve my own business practices as a professional dog trainer. It is one thing to be good at training dogs, it is another to understand how to create the external structures and procedures necessary to best aid your clients in a sustainable and consistent manner. Jen has both of these skills AND the ability to TEACH these skills to others - this is huge!! I would highly recommend The Right Paw as a resource for pet owners, dog sport teams and dog trainers wanting to up their game!
