The Southern Dog - In Home Obedience Training

I began bringing my rescue dog, Bruce, to The Southern Paw in August, shortly after he turned one. At the time, he was quite nervous around strangers and exhibited some behavioral challenges. Over the course of several months, Bruce participated in basic training, the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program, and Public Access training, under the guidance of Jeff, Trina, and their exceptional team. I am thrilled to share that Bruce has made incredible progress. One of my major goals was to take him on an airplane, and this week, he successfully completed his first flight with me. His behavior was outstanding—he was calm and composed through the entire process, earning compliments from TSA agents for his calm demeanor and ability to sit comfortably around strangers. He even allowed them to pet him, which, for anyone familiar with his initial anxiety, is a remarkable achievement. Through this journey, I’ve also gained valuable insights into my own behavior and how I can better communicate with Bruce. The team at The Southern Paw taught me how to adjust my approach, recognize signs of stress in Bruce, and proactively address potential issues before they arise. I am deeply grateful to The Southern Paw for their unwavering dedication to Bruce and me. Their support has been invaluable, not only in training but in providing peace of mind. I’ve always had concerns about leaving Bruce in someone else’s care, but knowing he was in such capable, compassionate hands gave me great comfort. Wow, just Wow! Some people think they know dogs and then there is Southern Dog. This team of dog professionals can help in any situation. Their level of expertise isn't with one type of dog, but all breeds. Their ability to understand your needs and how to put a specific plan together is beyond amazing. This includes PTSD, Traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and autism to just name a few. Moreover, they are just great people, easy to work with and will give you 100%. As a handler of a service dog, I never thought Mango and I would be where we are today. Their training plan for my needs and understanding my dog is beyond comprehension. If you need help with your dog from the most basic of skills or more advanced training, this is the team to contact.

You can't say enough good stuff about these people and their animal communication and training skills. We have two severely traumatized little dogs who did an in-house two week training. They came out with an attitude adjustment from the relaxation sessions and other things done with them. Of course they are not magically fixed in two weeks. I will work with them routinely on what they have learned with the skills that Trina taught me so they can continue to relax and not attack. It's also super nice to know that I can get help in a minute if I need it just by calling. Molly has been out of training for over a year now and Trina is still there for me if I have an issue. Its been 24hrs since I spoke with southern dog, I was told that I would receive a call at 5pm yesterday, didn't happen. Ok no problem stuff happens, I thought surely they would call sometime the next day, didn't happen. If there is one thing that I hate its being blown off, especially when I need help with my dogs. My dogs are like my Kids. One of the main things about this company that attracted me was that its Vet owned, well this vet feels let down. Unprofessional to say the least.
