I feel like if I say “life changing” that’ll sound overly dramatic but I honestly can’t think of a better way to put it. Jamie helped us in so many ways: how to communicate with our reactive dog and how his nervous system works, how to help him feel secure and happy, helping us figure out how to set things up when we ended up with a surprise foster dog, and then how to introduce the dogs successfully when we foster failed, she even walked with us when our foster fail had 8 surprise puppies! We’ve returned to her community twice after completing the program - once when we had the sudden death of a dog and then again when ou living situation got a little chaotic. In both instances she was a calm, sympathetic, kind, and wise voice of reason. I really can’t speak of her and her program highly enough.

Jamie was exactly the breath of fresh air we needed. As dog owners for twenty five years together, my wife and I thought we had dog parenting skills down to a T. Them we adopted a Shepski(Shepherd Husky mix). We SURE learned quickly we had a lot to still learn. Jamie brought us perspective that I never had which included focus on enrichment for our girls. We have always spoiled our girls but providing the daily enrichment that they need was EXACTLY what we were looking for. Communication wise, documentation wise and everything inclusively about Jamie was A+++. In February 2023 I impulsively brought home a 2 month old male chihuahua. He is my first dog. I had been a cat person all my life. I’m 60. I had no idea what to do and how to train him. I found Jamie’s business through another trainee that highly recommended her services. We talked on the phone and I felt very comfortable right from the start. Even though my puppy was not the most engaging dog during the social sessions w the other puppies, Jamie helped me understand and accept the following: his breed traits, his own particular personality and his pace of socializing. At the end of our 6 months working together and my following the course online, I had grown a lot more confident and I could feel my puppy had the foundation to grow into a confident, relaxed yet well trained adult dog. I have to say, most people are surprised at how chill my chihuahua is and open to getting to know people (after he has vetted them 😂) and playing with dogs his size. I learned so much from the Puppy Expedition program and I am extremely grateful to Jamie for her deeply caring and focused support. I recommend The Speaking Dog to anyone that wants to develop a deeper connection with their dog and have effective training support. 5000 stars!

The Speaking Dog Training - Jamie Shellington - is wonderful! I did the Expedition Puppy Training Course and is in the Canine Confidante course. I would not have gotten through the last 16 months without her. Her courses are online. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to take my puppy to her past puppy socials. Jamie is a caring person who really KNOWS dogs and what they are trying to tell us. It is about listening and TRUST. I highly recommend that if you are a new puppy owner or a dog owner that needs help with their dog and their behaviors. It will make your relationship with your fur baby so much better!
