The Trusted Companion

Ruby is our two-year old formerly stubborn Frenchie who did not like her sister Aria. Treat based training did not help, and we were considering re-homing sweet Ruby since our two dogs could not get along. So we sent Ruby on a 5-week board and train program with Brant with the Trusted Companion. After speaking with Brant over the phone, we felt confident he understands dog psychology and would be able to train Ruby into an obedient dog. Brant not only trained Ruby, but also gave us the training and the tools to continue to reinforce Ruby’s good manners, and to dissolve any confrontation between Ruby and her sister Aria. In addition, Brant provided us with daily videos showing what was covered during training and how well Ruby was progressing. After working with Brant for almost a year, we have determined that this is not just another job for him; he loves dogs and loves what he does. We will continue to rely on Brant for refresher board and train when we go out of town as we have the peace of mind knowing the dogs are in good hands, reinforcing what they have learned, while we get daily videos showing us their well-being.

I got my dog to be a protector and companion. His training was going well, he was friendly with other dogs and was intuitively protective in the appropriate situations. Two years into our life together, we encountered a “perfect storm”. He reacted to an unstable dog and I was too slow in my reaction to help him. He was reprimanded by the other dog's owner. His trust in me was broken. For two years, I tried to correct the issue but the damage was done. His reactions to other dogs just kept getting worse. After a knee surgery that kept him out of social situations for months, I noticed the behavior had hit a new level of danger. I reached out to the Trusted Companion’s best trainer, Allie Long. She guided me through the process, addressed a million concerns and treated my dog like he was her own. I received daily updates along with regular answers to my continuously growing list of questions. Four weeks into their training I received a video that brought me to tears. My dog was willingly playing with hers. She was able to get him to follow commands I have been attempting to teach him for years, drastically shortened the time between command and obedience and helped rebuild his confidence. The improvement in his skills without the loss of his personality is incredible. He has even managed to walk past cats without pulling my arm out of the socket. The changes I am already seeing, after only a week at home are miraculous. I am so grateful for the hard work Allie put in to help give my pup a better life.

Brant saved our relationship with our dog, Aria! She was having some aggression issues and the treat-based training was not working. She was frustrated and we were frustrated and we were at our wits end considering rehoming her or medicating her but luckily a friend recommended Brant with The Trusted Companion and we immediately felt like we found the right trainer. We signed Aria up for the 12 week board and train program. We heard horror stories about other board and train programs but we were reassured by the daily update videos where we could see Aria’s progress. She truly came back to us a new dog! We were given the tools to make us a happy family again and she became the best version of herself. Brant also offers ongoing support and refresher training and is so knowledgeable of dog psychology and history of the different breeds. Best decision we ever made!

I’ve used Brant for several years. I have sent young dogs to the board and train and I have used Brant’s expertise when I had two dogs that lived together and did not like each other. He is great and always available for questions after my dogs have returned home. I have used his boarding services on several occasions. With him having an established relationship with my dog, I know that she is confident and comfortable while I’m away. Not only does he board her, but he reinforces training and provides updates and videos (I secretly wait for them in anticipation). Brant will always get 5 stars in my household!

I have nothing but praise for Allie Long and The Trusted Companion for their help with my dog, Dante. He is a foster fail that came to me when he was 6 months old. He had bad separation anxiety and I could not leave him alone without coming home to an absolute mess. After spending 3 weeks with Allie, he came back crate trained and calmer. The communication from Allie and the obvious care she provided him helped calm my anxiety while he was with her. I would use The Trusted Companion again in a heartbeat.
