I recently completed the Basic Obedience Group Classes at Thunderhawk Academy, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the experience. From start to finish, the program was thoughtfully structured, incredibly effective, and — most importantly — enjoyable for both me and my dog. A special shoutout goes to Carmen, who was our instructor throughout the course. She brings an amazing combination of professionalism, patience, and passion to every class. Carmen has a natural talent for working with both dogs and their humans — always clear in her instructions, quick to offer helpful tips, and genuinely invested in each dog’s progress. What really stood out was how Carmen created a supportive environment where everyone felt encouraged, no matter the starting skill level of their dog. Her calm, confident approach helped my pup build focus and responsiveness in a way that felt positive and rewarding — never harsh or intimidating. By the end of the course, my dog was walking nicely on leash, responding reliably to basic commands, and showing noticeable improvements in overall behavior. The tools and techniques we learned at Thunderhawk have made a big difference at home and out in the real world. I highly recommend Thunderhawk Academy to anyone looking to build a better relationship with their dog. This was a fantastic experience for me and my dog. Carmen and Emily were patient, accommodating and encouraging. I can’t say enough good things about the work they do. Even though it was a group class, we all got some one-on-one time and attention each week. Class material was emailed prior to each weeks lesson and well organized, building on the previous week’s lessons. No dog was left behind or allowed to get bored. They clearly love what they do and it shows. I’ll be signing up for an intermediate class very soon.
