Thurman's Place

10/10 stars, best place you can go to get your dog trained. Very very clean environment, very professional and very kind people that work there. My dog was 10 months old, very wild and disobedient. I received a brand new and very obedient dog. My dog would run completely wild around the house and do whatever, I just cleaned my house while my dog laid in his bed. Can’t say more about Thurmans. Best place!

Full disclosure - I thought about canceling Niko's 4 week e-stim board and train 2 days prior to his pick-up day! "How can I send my baby away for 4 weeks?" "What will I do without him?" Then I got my reality check when on a walk he jumped into the street - yet again - at the whirring sound of a golf cart - and then lunged excitedly at an approaching dog with the desire to play, with all 70 pounds of him tugging me as usual throughout our entire walk. Our walks had become exhausting! I had to get beyond the fear of missing Niko and focus on the bigger picture of teaching my highly energetic and intelligent 3-year-old Huskadoodle much needed manners inside and outside of our home as well as important safety skills on walks and on car rides! After 4 weeks of e-stim training at Thurman's Place I can now enjoy my walks with Niko! No more pulling me, marking throughout his walks, lunging out, or jumping into the street! And with workers still at our house, Niko stays calmly in "place" on his new cot as people come and go throughout the day! Why 4 weeks of training and not less? Because it takes that long to change unwanted behaviors and establish desirable ones! Thank you to Karen and all the trainers at Thurman's Place for teaching Niko how to become a well balanced dog and for giving my husband and me the tools we will need moving forward as Niko's leaders to ensure a structured, safe, and happy life!

I went as an electrical contractor to upgrade the service for the building for the kennels. My very first impression of entering the building was " this doesn't smell like a kennel. " When we came in as strangers, all the dogs in the kennel started voicing their concerns that there was strangers in the house. Immediately, the staff came out from their regular chores and calmed all the dogs down and let them know that it was all right that there were strangers in the house. They immediately calmed and went back to their normal routines. The owner spoke to the dogs, knew them by name and they recognized him pretty much instantly. Simply stated, we came in as a surprise visit. Nobody was ready to impress anyone. It just all happened as the way they did their business. Again, I was extremely impressed. That's where I will bring my dogs. As we spoke about updating the service, there was going to be a period of time that the power would need to go down. Because of that, options were discussed to be sure that there was generator power enough, at the ready, to be able to keep the air conditioning at a comfortable temperature for the dogs as the service upgrades were taking place. I left there genuinely convinced that the owner's care for the dogs that they take care of and that they all get that special treatment that all of us hope that they really would provide.

The owner Karen is so kind and so is her entire staff. On top of being kind, they are extremely knowledgeable. I’m an extreme helicopter mom and this is the only place I would trust my baby to go. They are patient with all of my questions and asking for picture updates 😂 I have an English Shepherd puppy that’s extremely smart and sneaky, so I’m thankful to have a place that helped me get ahead of it and start the good habits now! 🤍

If I could give Thurman’s place 6 stars I would. I sent my two lab puppies for the puppy program and then back again for the full e-collar training program and I am so thankful every day that I did. Their training program is amazing and their staff are so great. Karen, the owner, takes time to come and do the home drop off after the training to make sure you are prepared for your fully trained pup. It takes the pressure off of you if you don’t have the time or the knowledge. After training we continue to board with them and love everything about it. They continue with their training while on the farm, do pick up/drop off, baths, and so much playing!! The pups are not inside in crates or a small fenced space all day, they get out and play on the farm. We feel as though they treat the dogs so well and truly care about the success of the dogs. I would highly recommend their training program and boarding to anyone!!! It is expensive but it is an investment that was totally worth it in the end.
