Questions & answers
From Google
What people have asked about this business.
What is the "place" command and how can it help my McKinney dog?
The "place" command is one of the most powerful skills taught in our McKinney Dog Training program! This Dog Training technique teaches your dog to go to a designated spot—like a dog bed, mat, or raised platform—and stay there calmly until released. Our Dog Training system uses the place command to help control your dog during triggering situations like guests arriving, dinner time, or when you need them to settle down. We train place-stays ranging from 2 minutes to 20+ minutes in our advanced Dog Training bootcamps. This single Dog Training command transforms chaotic households into peaceful ones because your dog learns to relax on command instead of jumping, barking, or demanding attention!

Can you train multiple dogs from the same McKinney household?
Yes! Our McKinney Dog Training program regularly works with multi-dog households. We understand that when you have multiple dogs, one untrained dog can influence the others' behavior—and training them together creates household harmony. Our Dog Training approach typically involves assessing each dog individually during your $1 first lesson to understand their unique personalities, training levels, and behavioral challenges. From there, we customize a Dog Training plan that may involve training dogs separately initially, then together as they progress. Our Dog Training methods are consistent across all dogs, making it easier for you to manage your pack. Many McKinney families with multiple dogs find our Dog Training transforms their entire household dynamic!

Our Dog Training also covers sit-stay, down-stay, automatic sit when stopping, waiting politely at doors, and kenneling on command. Advanced Dog Training programs add distance commands, longer stays, and real-life distractions. Can your McKinney training help stop destructive chewing?
Absolutely! Destructive chewing is one of the common behavioral issues our McKinney Dog Training program addresses with proven techniques. Dogs chew for many reasons—boredom, anxiety, teething, or simply because it feels good and releases dopamine. Our Dog Training approach tackles chewing through a combination of reliable obedience commands, impulse control training, and proper redirection techniques. We teach commands like "off" and "leave it" as part of our comprehensive Dog Training curriculum. Most importantly, our Dog Training system gives you the tools to interrupt unwanted chewing and redirect your dog to appropriate behaviors. We work with multiple-dog households all the time in McKinney! We typically recommend training one dog at a time through our board & train program, starting with the most challenging dog or the pack leader. Once the first dog is trained, the others often improve simply by following the leader's example. However, we can also train multiple dogs simultaneously—we'll discuss the best approach during your $1 first lesson based on your dogs' specific dynamics and issues. Many clients are surprised how much easier the second and third dogs are to train once the first one sets the standard!

While we specialize in obedience training and behavior modification for family pets, our training does provide an excellent foundation for service dog work. We can train your dog to have rock-solid obedience, focus, and impulse control—all essential qualities for service dogs. However, we don't provide official service dog certification or task-specific training for disabilities. If you're looking to train a service dog, we recommend starting with our program to build the obedience foundation, then working with a specialized service dog organization for certification and task training.

Can you help with potty training and housebreaking issues?
Yes! Whether you have a puppy that hasn't fully learned housebreaking or an adult dog with regression issues, we can help. Potty training problems are often related to lack of structure, inconsistent routines, or the dog not understanding boundaries. Our training establishes clear communication and structure, which naturally improves housebreaking. During board & train, your dog will be on a consistent schedule and learn proper habits. We'll also teach you how to maintain these habits at home and recognize your dog's signals. Many clients see complete resolution of potty issues after our program!

Can you help with specific issues like leash pulling or jumping on people?
Absolutely! Leash pulling, jumping on guests, counter surfing, door dashing, and other specific behavioral issues are exactly what we fix. These aren't isolated problems—they're symptoms of a dog that doesn't understand boundaries and lacks impulse control. Our training addresses the root cause by teaching your dog self-control and respect for your leadership. Once your dog understands basic obedience commands like heel, sit, down, and place, these nuisance behaviors disappear naturally. You'll have a dog that walks politely on a leash and greets guests calmly instead of jumping all over them!

What if my dog is afraid of strangers, visitors, or new people?
Fear-based behaviors are very common and absolutely treatable. Whether your McKinney dog hides, barks excessively, or shows aggression when strangers approach, we can help build their confidence. Our training uses controlled exposure and positive conditioning to help fearful dogs overcome their anxiety. The "place" command is especially helpful—it gives your dog a safe spot where they can relax while visitors are present. Board & train is particularly effective for fearful dogs because they get daily exposure to new people and situations in a controlled environment, building confidence quickly.

What makes your training different from YouTube videos or DIY training?
Great question! While free online videos can teach you what to do, they can't show you how to do it with YOUR specific dog, and they can't correct your mistakes in real-time. Every dog is different—what works for a Golden Retriever in a YouTube video might not work for your reactive German Shepherd. Our trainers assess your dog's unique personality, drive level, and issues, then customize the approach. Plus, we train your dog FOR you first during board & train, then teach you hands-on during the handoff. You get expert guidance, real-time feedback, and lifetime support—none of which YouTube can provide!
