From Google

What people have asked about this business.

Do you offer Board & Train?

Yes. For families who need extra help or don’t have the time to do all the foundation work themselves, we offer board & train programs that include owner coaching on the back end. We don’t just hand you back a “trained dog,” we teach you how to keep that training alive at home.

Question on Google
What makes Training That Lasts different from other dog training companies?

We teach you how to get your dog to follow through because they trust you, not because they fear you, and not just for food. We use positive reinforcement like treats to mark the right behaviors, but the real secret is in your timing, your tone, your posture, and your consistency. We show you how to create clarity, not confusion. Dogs aren’t robots, they need structure and leadership that makes sense.

Question on Google
Do you train aggressive or reactive dogs?

Yes. But not with quick fixes or bark and e-collars. We help the dogs with big feelings, the ones that lunge, growl, snap, or shut down. We use behavior modification, desensitization, and counterconditioning to change how your dog feels about their triggers, not just how they act.

Question on Google
Do you come to my home for training?

Absolutely! Real-life behavior happens in your living room, your yard, your front door. That’s where we want to work. Our behavioral consultations give us the full picture and allow us to customize the plan for your home, your routine, your family and your dog.

Question on Google
When should I start training my puppy?

Before the bad habits start. We recommend starting between 8-10 weeks and continue on as that’s your golden window for socialization and foundational skills like crate training, leash exposure, and bite inhibition. Early training prevents future headaches. Think of that first few months like preschool for your dog.

Question on Google
What kind of training do you offer?

We offer Behavioral Consultations as a starting point to equip you with the tools you need to build a bond while learning to communicate together. We also offer puppy development, group sessions, structured walks, board-and-training, and 1 on 1 Training sessions. More importantly, we teach people how to lead their dogs with connection and consistency... because a well-trained dog without a well-informed owner still has a problem.

Question on Google
What is a structured walk?

A structured walk is a focused, leash-guided walk where your dog stays by your side. It builds impulse control, respect, and connection, not just exercise. You lead, they follow. Structure first, freedom later.

Question on Google
Do you use shock collars?

No. We do not use shock collars, e-collars, or any form of electronic stimulation. We understand their place but we don't recommend using them. Our philosophy is rooted in trust, communication and building connection, not control through discomfort.

Question on Google
When should I start training my puppy?

It's best to begin training as early as 8 weeks old. Early training helps instill good behaviors and prevents the development of unwanted habits.

There is nothing easy when you have a reactive dog. Walking our Kona wasn't enjoyable for him or us. He would bark, pull, whine, and was stressed the entire time. We tried 1:1 in center trainers and other group classes without any improvement. A friend recommended Tyler and Training That Lasts with structured training walks. To say Tyler is amazing is an understatement! Within a couple of weeks he had Kona at his side walking peacefully. They have continued for several months and now will go to local dog friendly stores for different environments. Kona is always going to be a high energy dog, but Tyler has helped so much. My only 2 regrets are that I did not find Tyler sooner and I didn't get a recording of Kona before we started. The change is astounding and even hard to believe. I cannot thank Tyler enough and highly recommend him.

This is a review about Training That Lasts and Tyler. I have a native American Indian dog that before the structured walks was pretty much unmanageable I'm 65 years old and since his walks with this dog each time he comes back after 45 minutes later I see such an improvement in my dog not so much his attitude he's just a little bit more user friendly and we've done a couple of the sessions and it's just remarkable on how much he actually has mellowed out on his walks where I can handle him so much easier I'm going to keep doing them and the attitude of Tyler is just unbelievable how much he loves what he's doing. He's become my dog trainer and a good friend too. I highly recommend Training That Lasts, if there's was a sixth star we'd be putting it down! Thank you

I am so fortunate to have sent my rambunctious puppy to board and train with Tyler. After two weeks of handling my new puppy, I realized that he was super hyper, rebellious, and a tough player! I couldn’t manage to pet him without him mouthing or nipping me hard. I couldn’t take him for a walk without him collapsing on the ground or going crazy, excitedly jumping on anything that moved. and I took a couple of private training lessons, sent him to day school, and even tried to change my behavior after watching endless episodes of The Dog Whisperer. At one point, I was so desperate and exhausted that I seriously considered returning my puppy to the breeder. When I first got my puppy, I was referred to Tyler for board and training, but I decided to bypass it. Finally, I reached out to Tyler for advice. He was a compassionate listener who talked me out of giving up on my Marlo and gave me hope that board and training could change my perspective. After a few weeks away, Tyler returned Marlo to me, showcasing his new civilized, obedient, and well-behaved manners! Tyler provided clear instructions to help me maintain this behavior and generously included freebies and surprise tools to support me. It has been almost a week since the “new” Marlo came home, and I cannot thank Tyler enough for the positive changes he has instilled in my puppy’s behavior! I highly recommend Tyler for boarding and training. His professionalism, expertise, and empathetic demeanor make a huge difference!

Tyler was great, helped a lot and gave us plenty of solid information. Will definitely keep moving forward with sessions and I highly recommend him to work with any type of dog.
