Troubled to Trained

We had an excellent experience with Troubled to Train and Shane Hawkins. Shane came to our home and worked with our entire family, which made the training practical, realistic, and easy to carry over into daily life. His information was accurate, clear, and incredibly helpful, and we saw immediate improvement in our dogs’ behavior. Shane didn’t just train our dogs—he trained us. He provided helpful text resources so we could continue to grow our knowledge and better understand the techniques he introduced. We especially appreciated that he never pushed additional training; instead, he simply let us know what support he could offer in the future if we chose to continue. Training took place in our home, around our neighborhood, and in our neighborhood common area, which made it very effective in real-world situations. Even months after our sessions, Shane went above and beyond by responding to texts, having phone conversations, and sharing additional resources when questions or issues came up. Shane truly cares about the dogs and the families he works with, and it shows. He made a real, lasting impact for us, and we highly recommend Troubled to Train to anyone looking for knowledgeable, compassionate, and effective dog training.

We met Shane back at Pet Supplies Plus. He introduced himself as he was there training a dog and selling his book. We chatted for a few minutes about his methods and bought his book “Troubled to Trained”. We inquired about additional training for our boxer puppy, and Shane was very prompt and responsive with suggestions on how he might help. He was able to come to our home for two training sessions, and it has already made such a difference for our puppy. She has learned sit, leave it, come, and responds when we command her to stop behavior such as jumping and going after our cat. He took the time to explain to us the “why “ of dog behavior, which helped us to understand why she was acting the way that she was and how we can best help be the best dog parents we can be. Our other 9 year old boxer was also paying attention during the training and following the commands! Shane is knowledgeable, professional, and courteous, and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who needs dog training.
