True Canine Training

I never really give reviews, however, I absolutely felt it was necessary when it came to our experience with Ben, and True Canine Training. Our Gage was 9 months when Ben came into our lives, and oh gosh… thank goodness he did. Gage had zero confidence, was not social, bad behaviors, etc etc. And yes… my husband and I take all the blame. Ben came to our house on day one, spent some time with Gage and after an hour or so Ben let us know he could help Gage and our family. Gage spent 2 weeks with Ben (board and train) and when he brought him back to us Gage was a completely different dog (behavior wise) but still OUR Gage! Training with Ben the first day was amazing … Ben trained us to keep Gage’s training going. It was hard work, but so amazing at the same time. We continued weekly training sessions with Ben, and it has been so awesome… walking him now, taking him places is so much fun. To have people walk up to us and tell us what a well trained dog we have are words I never thought I’d hear. It’s been about 3 months now and we continue our training with Gage every single day. It’s hard work, but it’s seriously been the best thing we could have done for Gage and our family. When Gage came home from his board and train I said to my husband “ Gage has done the work and now it’s our turn!” I am so thankful for Ben and his knowledge, his incredible attitude and for his amazing patience with me and my husband along the way. BEST investment we’ve ever made, no doubt about it.

If I could say all the things i wanted to say about Ben, it would be 10 pages long and no one would read it. Ben is the real deal. He did an incredible job with our white lab. He also continually follows through with checking in to make sure Blue Belle is doing well. Our dog loves Ben, so we know she has been well taken care of. Worth every penny and much more. We are so grateful we found Ben and recommend him to everyone who needs help with their dog.

A neighbor and friend shared Ben's contact information with me after our dog, EmmyLou, started exhibiting troubling behavior with other dogs and people. After losing her older brother in August, EmmyLou started showing signs of aggression and reactivity at doggy daycare, on walks and playing with other dogs at the park. From the moment we spoke with Ben, we knew that he was a seasoned pro with dog training. He listened to our experiences, walked us through his training philosophy and technique, and explained why he felt that Board and Train would be the best solution for EmmyLou. Following her Board and Train in January 2026, we could see immediate results on leash behavior and other life skills like down, recall, place and wait. We continue to work with her on reactivity with other dogs. Now, 8 weeks post Board and Train, we have turned a corner on her reactivity with other dogs. Ben is always available to answer our questions, guide us with tips and suggestions. He is truly invested in Emmy's well-being. I will recommend Ben and his services and expertise to anyone seeking dog training. He loves what he does. He is passionate about training and dog behavior. And we adore working with him.

Our dog Suki absolutely adores Ben. He has been such a monumental factor in how she has improved since we had adopted her from the shelter in March. Her daily temperament has improved, she is much less reactive, and we have noticed such a big difference in her obedience. He has taught her (and us as owners) so much about how to better understand dogs and how to train a dog. We are eternally grateful for Ben and trust him more than anybody to watch Suki, and we continue using him for boarding whenever we go anywhere without the dog. If we could rate more than 5 stars we would!
