Two Shepherds LLC

This is a longer review. Amanda and Trish at Two Shepherds are 2 of the most amazing people I’ve ever had to pleasure of doing business with. I had gotten a German shepherd after my last one passed at 13 years old. My last one was a female and now I have a male Memphis. He is a gem. But he is also extremely different than my last shepherd and needed more time for exercise and training. I’m a single mom with 3 jobs. So. I looked for trainers, board and trains were upwards of $3k. Which I did not have. I looked into private trainers, one of them very nice fairly priced $75 a session at my home, but Memphis walked her as a pup and most of the time was spent talking to me not training him or me how to train him. The next one was a 30+ year trainer of GSD K9s who refused to give me references because his “experience discussed on his website should be enough”. Then I stumbled on Two Shepherds. By that time Memphis was 18 months. We did a meet and greet and then Amanda was running a promotional training program. I discussed with Amanda how Memphis’s behavior was at that point because he was older than he should have been for the program. Amanda agreed to see how it went. So I paid $700 with a contract, expecting no refund, for 4 weeks of training. Weeks 1 and 3 were full day 8-6 Wed thurs fri. Then week 2 and 4, sleep over Wed to Fri. Well Memphis refused to go in the house, also this is dead of winter. So Amanda reached out, and while she could have said “hey your dog isn’t a good fit, come get him no refund” SHE DIDNT! She said” hey he refuses to come inside it’s too cold for him to be outside for 8 hours at a clip, let’s adjust” so we did. We did half day trainings until he was willing to go inside then added full day trainings. All of this until we reach the $700 balance on my account. Not only that, but since I had signed him up for a program, she gave me a discounted rate for the half and full day trainings so he would get the same amount of time. Amanda and Trish are patient, compassionate, caring, trustworthy, and intelligent. Amanda gives me tips and tricks for training at home between sessions and my Memphis has gained so much confidence working with them and is in general such a happier pup I have also started joining their weekend pack walks to help him with exposure and exercise. I don’t know about others experiences but I can say with total confidence I am grateful for the amazing ladies Amanda and Trish are! And I am so happy to recommend Two Shepherds LLC.

Long Review Warning*** But I wanted to give a fair and transparent review of my experience. We were interested in booking a 3 week board and train for both of our rescued pups. This company, local to us, seemed like a great fit. When I initially inquired, I was quoted a price that didn't match her current promotions. And yes I said promotions, because she had multiple. I inquired if there was a difference between the promotions she was running & the program I was offered, and was told she made an error. Great, financially that problem was solved. Amanda then advised me after paperwork was received I had 48 hours to send her $4k to secure the booking, and the required paperwork wasn't due until the date of boarding. Odd that you can take $4k without a contract but, fine. During that time, I had some additional concerns, and asked if there was anyway we can get some further information/reassurance in her ability to train/board dogs especially with a slight aggression history. Amanda was VERY accommodating and emailed me over the training program and her explanations to provide reassurance in her abilities. She offered to get some references over of past customers with their approval, along with offering a meet and greet. I advised her that I appreciated her time and would love a meet and greet, as I apparently missed her first offer in a previous email. My fault. At this time my 48 hour window has passed, which I voiced I was aware of. I said I know I am no longer guaranteed my prospective dates, but would love to set up a meet and greet during her next window of availability, and would love to speak to some references of people she has trained in the past. If you noticed, she does not have ANY reviews on google, and very minimal on other sites. I didn't think this was a out of the ordinary ask - as we are not dealing with a large corporation or franchise. I was then met with an email early the next day, denying my meet and greet, denying my request for references, and denied my booking all together for board and train. I was told that I had 'significant disconnect' and had 'additional requests' like discounts, and scheduling issues. Meanwhile I was wrongfully quoted from the start by Amanda. I inquired if it was same price if I paid cash, which is also a reasonable inquiry, but apparently both of those are being categorized as 'additional requests'. I was also advised that my dog 'didn't qualify' for the advertised promotion she was running. This information was never provided to me or explained in any capacity. I found it really ironic that right after I wanted to tour the home my dogs would be staying in for 3 weeks and some references of people that were happy to share their success with Two Shepherds, my booking was denied. She is someone who is not licensed or certified by any means, only insured, working out of her own home with minimal marketing, reviews, or public success. It is ABSOLUTELY reasonable to want reassurance and clear, successful communication from a small business who does not provide refunds in full prior to the scheduled date, wants her payment basically in 'cash' (paypal, zelle, cash) immediately, and has no order of operations in regards to requiring a meet and greet, not automatically sending training programs without customer asking, and just requiring her entire contract be signed and returned NOT in conjunction to payment. I am TRULY disappointed in this program/small business and can only believe that they are unfit to train and board properly. When a loving/caring dog owner of two rescues wants reassurance that her dogs are going to be properly cared for, and wants to be transparent about her case/concerns rather than just blindly sending her dogs off to two strangers with an LLC, I am SHOCKED that professionals are unwilling to share their previous success stories or even meet the dogs they are willing to take $4k to train/board, or even LACK the comprehension to understand why I have questions or concerns.
