Ty The Dog Guy

My husband and I adopted a 1 1/2 year old bull terrier mix, Yahtzee, in early June as a "younger brother" for our 7 year old dog. We discovered Yahtzee had some behavioral problems, such as mouthing with biting down or nipping. My husband and I knew that standard "obedience training" would not address his problems. The Ty The Dog Guy training program requires a commitment to your dog which has assisted us in bonding with Yahtzee, improved his relationship with our other dog and most importantly, helped Yahtzee feel loved/cared for in his new "forever home." Our trainer, Bailey, was excellent. She has a wide breadth and depth of knowledge. Bailey attended to both Yahtzee's individual behavioral needs as well as our training techniques using positive correction/feedback. She was a source of ongoing motivation and available to help us problem-solve issues, including our two-dog home between sessions. Yahtzee always enjoyed his "school" time with Bailey. My husband and I both watched the online videos every week to prepare for individual training sessions as well as on the weeks we did not meet with our trainer in person. We felt that the videos helped us be prepared to work on the individual training tasks for each week with Yahtzee. We and staff at the dog daycare both dogs attend noticed a reduction in his Yahtzee's problematic behaviors within two weeks of starting the program without even addressing them directly. After Yahtzee completed the 60 day program, we recognize Yahtzee is still "a work in progress." We started attending the weekend group sessions. These have been beneficial to reinforce Yahtzee's previous training, extend training to novel environments, and continue learning. We strongly recommend the Ty The Dog Guy program to any dog owner whose dog exhibits behavioral issues. The program requires a strong commitment. It does require hard work and can try your patience at times but is well worth the time and effort for both you and your dog.

I needed some help retraining my unruly 9 yr old lab and had the pleasure of working with Amber. She was fantastic to work with! You can tell she loves what she does and is really good at training! Her dog is absolutely amazing to watch work! She gave me so many great tips on how to get him to listen since he’s very hard headed. He has come so far and is now a pleasant dog to take for walks especially in crowded places. The additional training videos are also a great supplement and the fact that you can attend free group trainings for the life of your best friend is so helpful! This was money well spent! I wish I would have started sooner!
