I adopted my rescue pup when he was only 6 months old, and within the next 6 months I came to realize he had some reactive behavior and was starting to fear bite anyone that would try and pet him. I wanted to catch this quickly and learn how to manage these anxious behaviors before he got older or anything escalated further. I frantically reached out to Bobby Jo and in no time we set up our first meet. Her and Heather are super nice and extremely professional and impressed me right away with their knowledge and understanding of dogs social cues. Uncommon Canines helped ME and my dog tremendously by increasing his confidence as well as my own when it came to owning an “aggressive” dog. Over the past year I have worked with Uncommon Canines a lot, via their stay & learn program w/ e collar training and private lessons. While I still deal with occasional set backs with my dog, he’s made tremendous progress over the past year and his confidence around others has increased to the point where he’s ASKING people to pet him without getting spooked. And I’m more of an advocate for my dog now than I was before, and I’m not afraid to tell people Do Not Pet! when I see he’s stressed. I owe UCA so much thanks and praise, and so does my dog🤍

Bobbi-Jo, from Uncommon Canine Academy, has been integral to our Ruthie’s development and maturity. With Bobbi-Jo’s supervision and guidance, we safely integrated Ruthie into our home with our resident cat and they were able to bond and coexist lovingly for three months before lymphoma claimed our cat’s life. I will be forever grateful to Bobbi-Jo for that. She’s also helped us greatly minimize Ruthie’s obnoxious teenage behaviors—from jumping on people and mouthiness to driving other dogs nuts with her overzealous excitement and “in your face” play style. If other dogs could thank Bobbi-Jo for how much more chilled out Ruthie is with them, they would. She’s also been a huge support, answering anxious texts with calm guidance when I’m misreading normal dog behavior, reassuring me when I need it, and sometimes pointing out where I could do better and showing me how. Training isn’t just about teaching the animal - it’s about learning as their human how to act in key moments to change and manage those behaviors you want to discourage. She shows you how to advocate for your dog and the dogs they interact with and enrich them so that you’re helping to prevent some of the problem behaviors before they start. She’s helped us enjoy our dog’s company and deepen our bond as a family. Her and Heather were also really helpful to us when teaching Ruthie loose-leash walking. Heather even played the part of the dog for us in trying to get us to anticipate her movements and how to respond. That is true commitment and a love for animals! Bobbi-Jo and Heather are also the only people I trust to board our dog when we travel. It’s in-home boarding and I know she will get the play time, enrichment, structure, supervision, down time and love/attention she deserves there. Highly recommend her for training and boarding.

Very unprofessional! I made an appointment and had to reschedule because Bobbi Jo didn't update her schedule. I booked another appointment and it was a no show! No phone call, no email, NOTHING!!! I don't buy the whole "computer system" issue since I received texts and emails me the day before confirming my appointment and stating I didn't fill out a form. I also received a message from Bobbi Jo stating she didn't have my contact info. Really? You found my info after reading my review. Glad I took the time out of work TWICE! UNACCEPTABLE!
