I can't say enough about Andria and her training methods. She has an extensive knowledge of animal behavior combined with patience, kindness and a great sense of humor. Once dogs learn their basic commands she uses class time to create realistic and practical scenarios to apply those skills. Using positive reinforcement to build on success, and increasing distractions to challenge obedience, my GSD puppy has learned to master her impulsivity and control her high energy. I've had a much more enjoyable experience and better results since I've switched to Unmistaken Stars.

Andria Young of Unmistaken Stars Sanctuary is a superb dog trainer, drawing upon her rich experience with animals and their owners. She has been remarkable in helping us manage and train our Golden! Through weekly lessons, Andria has impressed us with her incredible patience, deep understanding, wide-ranging knowledge, and compassion both with us and our puppy! And she follows up her training with videos and helpful suggestions to keep the training going! Most important, our puppy is downright joyous to see Andria! I think that Andria is a “dog whisperer” and seems to have a magical relationship with dogs as she trains. We have the highest recommendation for Andria and know that she has dramatically improved our capability to happily enjoy our puppy!

We have used Andria's training expertise for both of our dogs. Our 4-month Brittany just finished up the puppy class, which was not only helpful for teaching her basic skills, but also for understanding impulse control and attention and how to best develop these skills. We will definitely be signing up for the next level class with our puppy! Perhaps even more impactful has been our training experience with our adolescent dog, a rescue with a significant trauma history. This early trauma, plus the fact that she then was adopted by us during a pandemic, led to her not knowing what is safe and what is a threat and assuming everything is the latter. She had always been skittish and reactive, but when it got really bad she would freak out at the smallest things, like a grocery bag on the floor, a small box on the table, or a chair out of place, and any new person or dog. We had a couple situations that could have very easily escalated into bites. Leaving the house with her to go anywhere but doggy daycare always ended poorly. Walks were not safe. Her world got very small. We then found Andria who taught us so much about fear and stress in dogs and how to retrain her brain to know that not everything is a threat. Andria was patient with and respected our girl from the get-go and every training method she uses is positive and fear-free. She provided us with so much information in a very accessible and relatable way with tips that were easy to implement. She has been so helpful with follow-up questions and always gives her responses in a way that helps us understand why a certain issue may be happening. Our rescue has made an enormous amount of progress and we credit so much of that to Andria. Understanding the underlying issues improved our relationship with our dog and we now have a toolkit of strategies to help her handle new situations. We highly recommend Unmistaken Stars to anyone looking for dog training.

We are so lucky to have found Andria! She is the third (and final) trainer we have worked with for our frenchie, Ollie. After trying different styles of training, methods, tricks, tips, tools, etc. we were getting no where in our training with Ollie and his reactivity to people/other dogs. We have made SO much progress with Andria in little time, I am amazed at the things Ollie can do now compared to a few months ago. She has provided so much education and given us the confidence we need to train Ollie not just with her but at home and in his environment as well. I would 100% recommend Andria to anyone with a new puppy or dog with behavioral issues. My only wish is that we would have found her sooner. She is patient, kind and non-judgmental of where we are with Ollie. You can tell she loves what she does and is so kind to our Ollie despite his craziness. Thank you Andria!!!
