My gsd puppy is 5 months and he has gone upstairs but will not go down them. This has been one of many obstacles im faced with on a daily basis. He is also biting Hard on my arms, legs, and bruises me. Is this fear anxiety?

I want to also say I have had someone come to the house who was a professional trainer,but she couldn't get him to go down. She suggested stair treads but i got them right away and now its three weeks later, still im stuck carrying him back down. He is heavy and im doing all i can to get him to walk down! HE IS A SMART DOG! His puppy biting doesnt seem innocent anymore its also getting way to hard for me to endure! I called last night but the office was closed. I am in tears because ive tried all other techniques out there and i am so patient and loving with my puppy,not to mention all the money put into my puppy to give him the best but i don't know what im doing wrong. He is arfraid to even go in a car for rides with me! Any help is appreciated! I love my dog and am desperate to get help!

Thomas, thank you for videos and they're really helping me train my 4 month old lab. Question: the Pat Nolan book from Dogtra has all behavior taught first with collar only then the voice command is added. You say connect collar to your voice. Help!

Dog needs to know basic commands without collar first, check Tom videos.

Today at Group Training with Kassandra my "reactive" girl had a breakthrough! Ruby was able to keep focused, demonstrate control and visibly showed reduced anxiety (less drooling). Kassandra created a fun faux park environment to help develop our skills to take into the real world. During our one-on-one training last week with Zach I received homework assignments that have taken our training to another level and it was evident in today's Group Training. I am very appreciative of the expertise and efforts of both Zach and Kassandra! Thank you all at UCA for caring about our pups and teaching us to effectively communicate with them!

I recently completed an 8-week training program at Upstate Canine Academy with Zach Burt, and the experience was absolutely incredible. What impressed me most was Zach’s teaching style. He constantly checked in to make sure I understood not just what we were doing, but why, and adapted the training throughout the program based on the needs and progress of my 3-year-old Golden Retriever, Ralph. It never felt like a cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all program. Zach was attentive, patient, and genuinely in tune with Ralph. The biggest milestone was Ralph earning his AKC Canine Good Citizen certification, something I’m extremely proud of. The facility is the perfect environment for training, the entire staff is friendly and professional, and I think the overall value is terrific. Despite UCA’s growing reputation and huge YouTube following, the cost remains very reasonable, especially if you’re local to the Albany area. I highly recommend Upstate Canine Academy, and especially Zach. I can’t wait for the next opportunity to train there again, and I’m hoping I’ll also get the chance to attend one of Tom Davis’s programs in the future. Ralph and I will definitely be back!

My husband and I were assigned Zach Burt; Head Trainer at Upstate Canine about a year ago when we adopted a roughly 1- year old male German Shepard/ Lab mix. Our dog was just short of feral as he had been dropped off in the woods and never lived in a home. Zach has been nothing but professional, knowledgeable, articulate and masterful in aiding us through the training process. His ability to troubleshoot, anticipate dog behaviors, and share his vast knowledge has made the training experience not only productive but a genuinely enjoyable process. After our time together; our dog is now off leash trained and living a fulfilling life thanks to our collaboration with Zach. We cannot recommend Zach Burt enough and look forward to our continued working relationship.
