We interviewed several dog behavior specialists for our Great Pyrenees rescue, Aspen, and are so thankful we went with Scott. It was 100% worth the wait versus going with someone else who had earlier availability but less knowledge and experience. Aspen has several types of fear aggression (dog, human and territorial) that led to a lot of conflict between her and other dogs or guests in our home. Scott helped us diagnose these issues and came up with a behavioral modification plan to help address them. During our initial consultation with him, he was honest and transparent about our likelihood of success, enabling us to make an informed decision on whether or not we wanted to move forward with his plan. After working with Scott we feel so much better prepared to help Aspen address her fears. She's made incredible progress already and we're excited to see her continue to grow. Working with Dr.Scott Sheaffer has been eye opening for my wife and I. More so than training our dog, we, as people, have learned the right behaviors to get our dog to respond and behave in the manner that we want. Scott's training is engaging, informative, and he does a great job of translating dog training skills to a simple format -- often using easy to understand analogies to relate to your dog and how they are feeling in a given scenario. Scott was extremely helpful and kind while working with my husband and I and our 8 month-old golden retriever puppy, Nacho. Nacho had some control aggression issues along with other puppy behaviors that we wanted to improve on. Scott was very understanding, helpful, and kind and worked with us to understand how to better work with Nacho and understand the reasons why he was displaying certain behaviors. Scott makes learning about your pet very easy, and gives great resources to use when you get home so that you can work on training after each session. The tools were extremely helpful to us, and we can already see an improvement in Nacho's behavior.
