Stephen is a pleasure to work with. He is always professional and dedicated to his craft. He is patient and teaches you how to set your puppy up for an amazing life. He teaches you how to teach your puppy and empowers the dog owner to take pride in their dog training. We are so happy we worked with Stephen. Our entire family was able to engage in the dog training process, which makes for an all around well behaved dog.

I met Stephen through a mutual friend, and recommend him to all my friends that are looking for a dog trainer. I am a first time dog owner with a busy schedule, so VGDT’s Board and Train program was extremely helpful. I had previously signed up for a weekly class at PetsMart, but once a week training was not enough. Stephen does a very good job updating the owner of the dog’s progress throughout the three week “B&T”, and he also posts very helpful videos on his instagram @VeryGoodDogTraining. Prospective clients might feel nervous about dropping their dog off for three weeks, but from my experience with VGDT, I can assure you it is well worth it to receive a well behaved dog at the end of their stay. I can also guarantee that you will become a better handler of your dog after receiving instruction from Stephen. He also continues to follow up with the owner for as many sessions as needed to ensure the transition home is smooth. Thank you Stephen and VGDT!

Stephen did an amazing job with our 4.5 year old Boston Terrier, Stella. We tried 2 other trainers before Stephen and he succeeded in helping us teach Stella structure to make her calm and better behaved. He also held us accountable along the way. Stella is a completely different dog in a better way thanks to Stephen and his strategy for us - while still being the dog we love. I rescued 2 adult dogs Bella (5.5 y/o) & Jack (8.5 y/o), who didn’t have structure in their lives and I did not know how to implement it with 2 grown dogs. To make our lives more enjoyable and easier, I hired Stephen to train them both (at the same time!!) and he was able to instill structure- they respect my commands and they respect boundaries (not allowed upstairs to the bedroom). Murphy proves you can teach old dogs new tricks. So it’s never too late to have your dog trained and he proves it with my 2 rescues.

Stephen helped my dog with traits shes been expressing for almost 4 years now. She was anxious to the high heaven with anyone outside of me and was having difficulty feeling comfortable and confident when being in different scenarios. Stephen worked extra hours with Rosie and it shows, she is confident and relaxed now and understands her commands. Her off leash training alone has been worth it as I, as the owner, are more confident taking care of her and making sure she stays safe and close. The biggest plus is she learned to stay and recall. I recommend Stephen and Very Good Dog Training. He knows what he's doing.
