Walk A Pup

We adopted a three year old chi mix from a southern rescue and as first time dog owners, we really wanted to make sure we not only trained her well, but that we learned skills for helping her be happy and healthy. Walk A Pup is local to us and came highly recommended by our vet (All Creatures, also in Salem.) We did 1-on-1 sessions with Dan to start and it's amazing the progress both we and our dog have made! She's come out of her shell to be a smart, sassy little dog who loves socializing with other dogs, even big ones! Dan is a fantastic instructor and clearly loves all the pets he comes across. Every week he asked how she was doing, and adjusted our training lessons based on our feedback and observations. The training process felt organic and zero pressure. Dan would bring out various dogs of different temperaments to get her interacting with all kinds, and it's really upped her confidence level. As soon as she realizes we're on our way to the facility, she gets so excited! Now that we are done with the 1-on-1 sessions, we are starting on small group walks and will be following up with a group training class hopefully soon. I can't recommend them enough!

We've used Walk A Pup for 9 years. They've provided walking services, training and pet sitting for us and they have become like family for our pups. They've been with us through the passing of one of our dogs and helped us acclimate another to our family when we adopted him a few years back. Like some families say that it takes a village to raise their kids, Walk A Pup is our village for our pups. They are the best and I highly recommend them.

Walk a Pup came recommended by the shelter where we adopted our dog, who is very sweet with people but can be pretty reactive to other dogs. Walk a Pup has been wonderful to work with and has not only helped our dog settle in to our home quickly with daily walks while we're at work, they've also been great with training sessions. Our pup has a ways to go but he's definitely shown improvement and Walk a Pup's training resources and guidance have been so useful at helping us understand how we can continue to build skills!

I first reached out to Walk A Pup before my first dog even came home and they were so supportive from the first communication. When she came home and was a little bit of a challenge, Dan and Yana were so great working with us 1x1, in classes, on her walks, etc. With their support, she has grown into the sweetest dog. When my second dog came home they were there from the beginning, helping introduce the two and helping through an adjustment period. They are so kind and positive, and clearly love the dogs they work with, and that’s consistent with every member of their team. I trust them daily with my pups and can’t recommend them highly enough!
