Ward's Dog Training

Took my dog Ducky here after seeing an ad on Facebook and I wouldn’t go back. Ducky has learned some great manners and built a stronger foundation of holding his Down command as well as sit. We’ve always been able to hold Place with high distraction area with his siblings which he used to not be able to do at all. It’s also opened up the door to an outlet for getting his extra energy out. Jordon was my trainer and he did amazing and answered everything as best as he could. I’ll definitely be bringing my dogs here whenever they need training. It was a bit of a drive living by Rockwall but totally worth it.

Our two boys Wyatt and Gunnar both are very rambunctious and large. Gunnar is challenging and loves to push the envelope and Wyatt doesn’t understand that he is 100+ pounds. They both had NO door manners, enjoyed jumping on people that came over, and overall were hard to get both to calm down at the same time. They at times also would get in scuffles around me while I was pregnant and it was overwhelming. We were at a point where something had to change or there was going to have to be a hard decision made…. Now that all of this is said …. These dogs came back different animals! Gunnar is less pushy and challenging. He is almost a first time minder which for his breed (Great Pyrenees) is so uncommon. He now places even with company, respect the adults and other dogs in the house, and has great manners with the doors. He also NO longer pulls on the leash and we can easily walk him while pushing the stroller with my newborn. Wyatt is as sweet as ever but listens so well — he understands now that the adults are the alpha in the household. He also respects guest and other rules including not getting on the couch or bed. He also respects the command off when having to separate from his loving but pushy brother. Wyatt’s off leash skills are so amazing but also his walking on the leash. There is no pulling — there is nothing out minding his leader. Overall — my family gives Wards a 1000000/10. The dogs were always happy to be there even when away from us. They were so well cared for it was crazy. The trainers all were just so amazing and communicated so well with us. They gave us our family back, safety in our home for our newborn, and most importantly helped us keep our family together!!

Our 8 month old Viszla puppy just graduated from the 3 week board and train program and I cannot recommend it enough! Zoe was amazing with our boy and I am so impressed with how much he learned in 3 weeks. He is a different dog! Thanks to Zoe we now have the tools and knowledge to continue our training with him. From the constant communication and the back and forth videos, it was a complete partnership the whole time. If you’re thinking about it, don’t hesitate! You won’t regret making the investment to have a well trained dog. We are looking forward to more classes with our boy!

This picture shows the progress we made since working with Ward’s training team (Maggie 💜). Last year around August/Sept I introduced a 3yr old pit mix to a household of two seniors (basset - 9y.o. and shih tzu-10y.o.). Not much history on her, she was a stray, recently had puppies, sweet demeanor. The first month and a half was calm. Then we had a series of attacks on our basset (x3) and she bit the shih tzu. I take dog ownership seriously, so I had to figure out what was in the best interest of everyone. I’d never been in this situation before, so I was researching rehoming, behavioralist vets, training, etc. I decided it was my responsibility to give her the best chance of integrating herself to us and we started with a behavioralist vet in Carollton, which led to directions on how to reset the home (separation), meds and some training print outs. I didn’t like the idea of having to give her meds after a while, so then I looked for trainers and found Ward’s. We did the personal training program that lasted I believe 6-8 weeks with Maggie. Hands on instruction was awesome. Daisy and I grew closer together, we learned to trust each other, and I gained the confidence I needed for her to understand that she could trust me to run the show. With the confidence I learned with our trainer I was able to take their suggestions of introducing cowalking with my other dogs. We practiced from the videos we would get from Ward’s at home to solidify positive behaviors, and slowly but surely everyone was reintroduced to sharing common spaces and eating in each others vicinity, etc. to everyone napping together! I couldn’t have done it without Maggie on the Ward’s training team or without them. Thank you for improving our family. One of the other great things are the continuing education classes they have for their graduates! Always a good way to reinforce the training and socialization at no add’l cost.

Ward's did an excellent job with our newly-adopted Staffy mix, Birdie. Birdie was very nervous and skittish and had trouble adjusting to her new home. We signed her up for Ward's board and train program to help her gain confidence and build her social skills. We met with the owner Justin who spent time with us to evaluate Birdie and help us choose the best plan for her. Zoe was assigned to train Birdie for her three week program. Zoe did an excellent job gaining Birdie's trust and building her confidence. We loved receiving Birdies training videos each week to watch her progress! After the program, Birdie is now more confident at home and follows our commands the first time. Justin, Zoe and all of the staff at Wards have a wealth of knowledge that they are happy to share with their customers. Not only did Birdie receive the training that she needed, but we also received valuable tools and education to continue her training at home. We are excited to send Birdie back to day care so she can play with her friends, and to join the group classes in the spring. Thank you to Zoe, Justin, Lilly, Maggie, Jordon and all of the staff that worked with Birdie. 10/10, would recommend Ward's!
