FirstBarkWheatland Dog Center & Kayla are amazing! Before Kayla, our German Wirehaired Pointer was reckless, defiant, and stubborn. After spending a couple of months at WDC, our girl came back well-mannered and eager to please, all while maintaining her vibrant personality that we love. We would definitely recommend Kayla!

About Wheatland Dog Center
Wheatland Dog Center in Derby, KS is a small, specialized dog training and boarding facility on a 20 acre farm that focuses on sending your dog home happier and healthier than when they arrived. The Dream Dog Program is customized for each dog to build a foundation of obedience and address unwanted behaviors. Our Puppy Raising program helps new puppies start on the path to becoming well-behaved, happy dogs, with two or more weeks of being raised and trained in our home. Daily activities and individualized attention from our experienced professional trainer ensures dogs have their emotional and physical needs met with low stress and anxiety levels. I took my pup, Snedecker, to Kayla at Wheatland Dog Center for day training private sessions a few years ago. It was the best experience! Sned learned so much while there, as did I thanks to the guidance, encouragement, and homework from Kayla! Sned still knows and responds positively when I tell him "you know what to do, do what Miss Kayla taught you." I have recommended Wheatland for training and boarding to many of my friends.
We have boarded our dog here a couple of times so far but we’ll be back for sure! Our dog loves it here and is always in a good mood when we pick her up (as opposed to the pent up “get me out of here” energy when we’ve picked her up from other places.) Kayla is very attentive and loving towards the dogs and it shows. Highly recommend.
We were having trouble with our 5 year old husky, Kayla gave us a lesson on how to safely utilize an e-collar for her to learn the recall. She was very knowledgeable and helpful! I always recommend her to anyone looking for a dog trainer!

I first used Kayla, co-owner of Wheatland Dog Center, in 2017 (when I lived in Kansas) right after I got my Vizsla puppy, Maggie. Maggie stayed with Kayla for a few weeks during her training. After the training concluded I picked Maggie up and the change was amazing. Kayla not only did a wonderful job with Maggie, she did a wonderful job training me on how to reinforce the behaviors Maggie had learned, which is very crucial. The next year I rescued another Vizsla, driving 20 hrs. round trip to pick him up. He also stayed at Wheatland for training. Both dogs are the best behaved pups I have ever had. I am such a fan of Wheatland Dog Center that, after moving to Oklahoma, I continue to take both dogs to her for boarding whenever I go on vacation, which is now a six hour round trip. I sometimes feel like a “fan stalker” as I have followed them during their 3 relocation moves. I know my dogs will be safe and sound plus there is the added feature of the video and photo updates I received while gone. The down side is that I want to get every one of the beautiful puppies they produce for hunting, scent detection and guide dog assistance, but I know they will find more deserving homes. Wheatland Dog Center is top notch and they genuinely care and love their animals, and yours, and you can be assured they will be cared for and loved while under her care..
