Whittier Dog Club - Training & Boarding

My fiancé and I had recently adopted a beautiful anatolian shepherd from a rescue. He was estimated to be one year old and was extremely friendly and curious. A few months in, we realized he was reactive to other dogs and overly protective of me when people would approach. He also began pulling heavily on the leash- and we knew we needed to fix all these problems asap. A friend of ours recommended Whittier Dog Club after he saw super positive results with his two dogs. I scheduled a free orientation and was extremely pleased with the staff, the facility, and their values of dog training. Everyone there truly loves what they do and they WANT the best for their clients. I was very well informed of what training/boarding would consist of. I scheduled my dog to be board and trained for 4 weeks. I was sent videos and "pupdates" regularly, which I really appreciated. When we picked him up after an agonizing month of waiting, the difference was night and day. The best part was, he still acted like a puppy! Just a well trained one. The staff didnt need to "break" my dogs spirit. They worked with his personality and found his triggers and worked within his parameters. I was able to walk with him by my side with zero tugging and if he "broke" I was given great instruction on how to redirect his attention and get him "back on track." The most impressive part, was seeing how well he did around other dogs. He was still curious but no barking, no pulling, no lunging! Given the fact that my dog is a large breed, its extremely important that he be good on the leash. My training also includes free group training sessions that happen 2x a week. So the training doesnt stop when he leaves the facility. Im very thankful for everyone at Whittier Dog Club for caring for my pup and taking the time to really train him properly!!! I will recommend this facility every chance I get.

I had a very disappointing experience with this dog training company. During our initial evaluation, Chris yanked my dog around on the leash simply because he wasn’t taking treats. My dog, who is typically confident and not nervous around new people, was visibly scared during the session and that reaction started almost immediately. I came in looking for guidance and support as a dog owner, but instead, the approach felt harsh and unhelpful. Rather than taking the time to understand my dog or teach me how to work with him, the trainer took over and made comments that placed blame on me, without offering any real instruction or encouragement. While they may have experience with dogs, the lack of patience, compassion, and communication made it a negative experience for both me and my pet. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a supportive or respectful training environment.

Whittier Dog Club is truly the best. We had been trying to train our rescue Scout on our own for years. He was extremely reactive and when we had our baby, he began having even more issues. We sent Scout to WDC for their 6 weeks boarding and training program and we were shocked when Scout was done. It was night and day difference. He has become a much more confident dog, does not pull or react on walks anymore, and has made so much progress with obedience. We were a little overwhelmed bringing him home after the program but Sasha and Chris answered all our questions and concerns and set us up for success bringing him home. The at home one on one lesson after Scout came home helped us as owners become more confident on how to communicate with Scout better and be clear on what we needed from him now that he was home. Highly recommend this program and so thankful for all WDC has done for Scout and our family!

We reached out to WDC for help with our 11 week old golden mountain doodle Steve. After a week of typical puppy behavior, we wanted help. We did a puppy 101 home visit and are so glad we did. Sasha and Chris are fantastic. We went from overwhelmed and frustrated to confident and relaxed knowing we have the right tools to set a great behavioral foundation. We look forward to working with WDC as our pup grows.
