Whyte Dog Academy

Whyte Dog Academy just does it right. Period. We had a consultation for our loveable yet stubborn Rottweiler, Sadie, and ended up doing the complete obedience board and train. Joshua made a point to learn our specific problems and needs in terms of Sadie's obedience. You can tell he genuinely cares about dogs and the results of their training. And the results of Sadie's training have been amazing. We're blown away sometimes. She follows directions and is very attentive to us now. Walking her is a dream! No pulling, lunging, barking, and she stays safe. She will ignore a nearby cat or rabbit with a simple "leave it". The peace of mind that we have now is just priceless. I had a hard time committing to paying for dog training, but I can tell you with 100% certainty that I have no regrets. All of the perks that they offer after training are a bonus. It's so worth it.

We are SO thankful for Whyte Dog Academy!! Two of our dogs recently completed training with Whyte Dog. Two weeks ago a board broke on our fence in the back yard and they got out while I was getting ready. After running out to the front yard and not finding them, I ran to wake up the kids to help me look. I left leashes for them and I got in the car to go check the road behind us in case they ran through the woods that direction. They weren’t there. Our son was in the woods and not finding them either. I came back into our neighborhood and parked near the entrance and started walking toward our house yelling for them. They came out of the woods on the opposite side excited as could be. I called “come” and they came to me immediately. But I didn’t have any leashes! My car was over a block behind me and the house over a block ahead of me. We started for the house. They started to run off again but I called them back and had them go into the down position for a minute. This got them to calm down and let their adrenaline slow down. I then called “heel” and they walked all the way home by my side. I released them at the side of our yard and they ran to our son who was waiting by the porch. THANK YOU Joshua and all those at Whyte Dog for the wonderful training. It was a life saver for us!!! If you need training, this is the place to go!!

I can’t thank Joshua and his team at Whyte dog academy enough! My dog, Moose, did a 5 week board and train and he has come out a new dog. He used to be very reactive towards other dogs, not a great leash walker and they have made him an amazing dog! The reactivity is gone and he can walk completely off leash now. They helped me gain confidence back in my dog and we both are so happy with the structure they gave us!

I am not sure I can adequately express my appreciation for this facility and the people that own and work in it. If you don't read past this sentence, just know this - you will not regret a single minute or dime you invest in your dogs' socialization/happiness/training/care with this organization. Now on to more specifics for those who want them... We have two dogs: (1) 13-years, (2) 9-months. Our 9-month old GSP has been going to Whyte Dog almost every weekday each week of his life since he was 10-ish weeks old. I have never been disappointed. He is a very socialized dog who is super friendly to all people and animals as a result of the socialization and exposures he gets at WD. He is loved and well taken care of every day he is there and super happy when he is dropped off and picked up...and he is also tired when I pick him up (double bonus!). In February 2023, our GSP also completed the 3-week board and train. We were sad to leave him, so we picked him up for one day on the weekends. Having friends who had unsuccessfully used other local trainers, I was very careful about the trainer selection as it is definitely an investment. Luckily, I had the opportunity to see Joshua working with dogs several times at pick-up and drop-off. It only takes seeing him work with dogs once to know that he knows exactly what he's doing! After three weeks, our dog came home very happy and knew a lot of commands. I could not believe it. No more walking us, no more counter surfing, no more jumping up on people, no more rushing the door, etc. I could go on and on...but the most helpful commands to me are a few I didn't even know existed or that I needed - "place" and "down" with an implied stay. Ahh-ma-zing. I also love and appreciate that these commands are reinforced when he is in daycare. I truly cannot believe how quickly he learned the commands. Our friends and family think he is one rockstar of a dog...and he is...because Joshua taught him manners and commands that keep him safe in various environments - something we tried to teach him, but we were never really successful. The website says "for a dog, education is liberation" - a concept that is so true and one I continue to think about as I see my young dog be able to travel and experience more life because I know he has the skills to be safe in those experiences/environments, and I have the confidence that he will respond as trained. Both of our dogs also board at the facility and are happy, happy, happy about it! Some other things you will love: online purchase of daycare packages, online daycare booking, online boarding booking, super-fast drop-off/pick-up that is SO easy, really helpful hours of operation, amazing and friendly staff who really love all dogs - even pointers that don't point ;) I could write a novel, but I'll stop here. Absolutely by far one of the best decisions we could have made for ourselves and our dog. The Whyte Dog Academy team only has you and your dogs well-being in mind. They take an educated and empathetic approach to training and it is beyond evident. This training has really given us a sense of freedom to create a relationship with our dog and have experiences with him where there is a foundation of trust. They took into consideration our lifestyle and overall customized and adjusted his training to meet our situation. I cannot say enough nice things and I cannot thank Whyte Dog Academy enough for what they have done for us and our dog it is truly freeing and beyond worth any amount of money and time for the care and quality they provide.
