Wild River Kennels

Wild River Kennels 30 day program was truly life changing. We were working privately with two different trainers for months and while we were able to get some improvement we could not seem to break our 8 month old golden retriever of jumping (on us, on guests), excessive barking at others while on our property (at UPS/postman, neighbors in their own yards/driveways, kids riding bikes, his reflection in the windows at night, etc) and pulling on leash to greet other people and dogs on walks. This last week since we brought him back home has been amazing. We are able to truly enjoy him! He still has his goofy high energy puppy personality but is so much calmer, and listens to commands. No more jumping all over everyone and anyone! No more excessive barking and so much better walking on leash. We now have confidence in our puppy. We were able to have my 85 year old parents over for dinner without worrying that he would knock someone over. We have friends who recommended Wild River but I was reluctant to send our puppy away for that long. We wish we would have done it sooner! Cannot recommend enough!!

My 20 month old lab went to Wild River Kennels for a little over a month for force fetch. We had started going to retriever nights last year and by the end knew she needed force fetch to take things to the next step. I cannot thank Chris and Kiira enough for all the time, effort and love they put into her during her stay. We did a session learning how we can keep consistent with everything at home and know they are always a text away for any support we need. If you have a retriever you are looking to get trained I cannot recommend Wild River enough!

We recently completed the 30 day obedience training with our 15 month old Golden Retriever, Breelee--and could not be happier with the results! Going into it, our greatest fear was that Breelee's happy-go-lucky personality--the very thing that makes her so special--would somehow be dulled or changed. We worried that she might come home with dimmer eyes or a less joyful spirit. We are thrilled to say that the opposite happened. She came home with the same bright, loving spirit -- but now also listens beautifully! She comes when called, heels like a champ, and stays in her "place" perfectly, even with distractions. The transformation in her behavior has been amazing without sacrificing any of her sweet, bubbly nature. We owe it all to Chris and the team at Wild River Kennels. Their expertise, patience, and care made this experience better than we could have hoped for. We can't thank them enough and would highly recommend this training to anyone looking to bring out the best in their dog without losing what makes them so special.

We found Wild River Kennels while searching for help training our 1 year old (and extremely high energy) Weimaraner pup Earl Grey. We initially did a 2.5 week board and train focusing on obedience and off-leash skills and the results were great. Chris and Kiira really helped teach him how to walk on heel and what the expectations were around his behavior and effort during training. They really succeeded where other trainers we had worked with had failed. Given their experience with active hunting breeds they were able to handle our high-energy high-prey drive dog. As with any dog training, don't expect miracles, it is up to the owner to continue reinforcing the foundations that the dog will learn during their stay at Wild River Kennels. Chris also did an amazing job during the handoff teaching us what Earl Grey had learned and how to continue his training on our own. Chris and Kiira are also an extremely helpful resource for owners when you may have a question about some detail of training. Our dog Earl Grey has been back several more times for training and boarding needs and we have always been extremely happy with the results. Using the skills he has learned (heel walking on/off leash, recall, place training, etc.) Earl Grey is now a full fledged "trail dog" that we bring on all of our mountain biking and outdoor adventures. Chris and Kiira have been extremely professional, reliable and nice and I would recommend them to anyone looking for training or boarding services.

My GSP puppy was beyond difficult I brought him to Wild River Kennels for obedience and hunting foundation training. I couldn’t be happier with the pups progress and training he received with Chris and his team. Pup is well mannered and has a great hunting foundation. Chris also took plenty of time going over all of the training he has received in detail upon pick up. Highly recommend Wild River Kennels to anyone for obedience and hunting training!!
