Windy Ridge Farm Dog Training

We were directed to Sandy via our breeder because our youngest GSP (3y M) and older GSP (7y F) had a few weeks of mild tiffs that turned very scary in a pretty severe fight. The youngest one had lost his “puppy privileges” and was egging on the older, who has been the “head honcho” since day one. My husband and I are looking to expand our family (with human kids not anymore dogs!), and we wanted to ensure our first “babies” were 1) safe for a child to be around, 2) had our household balance restored, and 3) restored the confidence in each dog’s relationship with the other. The dogs were never misbehaved dogs, but they definitely weren’t the strongest obedient ones either. I can’t imagine how my dogs would be without Sandy’s intervention. Truly. The tension in our house is nearly gone, we are able to work them in the same area without having any issues, and the other day they actually played in the yard together for the first time in months (never mind that they were digging in the yard as their play time 🥴) and I was moved to tears. We aren’t local to Sandy’s area and made the over 2 hour drive every week because we saw a difference in behavior literally after the first session. I cannot thank her enough for the tools she’s given my husband and I for our dogs, and the confidence she gave us in our ability to build on the foundation she gave us. I can’t recommend Sandy enough. Whether it’s basic obedience training or bird dog training, she is simply one of the best in the field. Winnie and Waylon thank Miss Sandy so very much 💗

Well, Thanks To You Sandy, we have an 8.5 month old Kipper we can enjoy around the house and walking. The changes are profound and dramatic. The constant frustrating chewing on many objects all over the house has been pretty well eliminated. We can stop him for the few that remain. No counter surfing or jumping on us. We can control barking. My knees could not have taken more constant lunging. He has met 45 different people and 10 dogs. Yesterday he met his first kids - 2 very young delightful girls that spent a lot of TIME with him. He wasn't sure what to think about them and didn't get completely comfortable with them enough to take kibble from them, but did go to them. All of this is a quality of life issue for us. Can't Thank You enough! On a personal level, Sandy is extremely impressive. She has many, many years of valuable dog training experience fixing all sorts of issues. She recently corrected a dog that was gun and bird shy. Many trainers would not even attempt to fix that combination. Sandy is one of those few people that has a deep understanding of what make dogs tick - she can get into the head of dogs on their level. A valuable trait given virtually every dog is different. She is a pleasure to work with. She is kind, thorough and patient. She responds immediately to questions. Sandy is also blessed with a fine sense of humor. All of those traits make her a delightful person to work with.

We brought in savages and took home well behaved, easy to take anywhere, dogs. Sandy was fantastic. Full of tips and tricks along with the training. How do we get them to let us clip their nails? Try this. What about going after the Amish horses? Try these 3 different things. She has years of experience and is just a font of information. Highly recommend and make sure to do the work! They don't train themselves and so often, we need as much training as the dogs! 😜 She made our boys into good boys. Off leash and controllable. Wombat and Kye are grateful but I would say we reap the benefits!

We adopted our one year old Jack Russell Terrier mix from a shelter and foster mom in Texas. He had no history. Benny got along well with various dogs in the foster home. He was house broken quickly. The first day we had him my husband reached for his leash that was attached to him but was lying on the floor. Benny bit David’s hand. We found Benny was very cautious around new people, especially men and men with baseball caps. We hired Sandy to work with us to help Benny learn basic obedience hoping to also give Benny the confidence to deal with strangers in a non reactive way. Sandy gave us the equipment and information we needed to train Benny. We had other various problem areas like excess barking, high prey drive for squirrels and birds, pulling while walking on a leash, nipping at our legs, etc. We also were concerned with his behavior around toddlers. Overall our experience was great. Sandy was accommodating, on time, reliable as far as answering our texts and she shared many fun stories about dog training. Even better, Benny really liked her. Sandy trained my husband and I how to work with Benny in all problem areas. Benny became a very manageable dog that we would be proud to take anywhere. He even went on vacation with us. We took him in a carrier in the cabin of the airplane. We stayed with relatives that had two dogs. He had many new experiences and he behaved very well. Sandy trained us well and it’s important to continue practicing in a consistent manner with Benny as he is still young. It was well worth the time and money spent considering how long Benny would be with us. We highly recommend Sandy for any type of dog training.
