Winnabow K9 Board & Train, LLC

We sent our dog Goose to Winnabow Training for a 3-week On Leash Off Leash training and it has been great! Our biggest concerns were with his constant pulling on walks and reactivity towards other dogs (mostly wanting to meet and play with every dog), birds, squirrels, and whatever we saw along our walk. Goose has been home for a few weeks now and he is so much better! He responds well to commands and we are able to relax more on our walks. He has the basics down, now we will just work to keep him consistent. I am most excited about his off leash recall abilities that he now has. Our yard is not fenced and I always felt too nervous to allow him off leash to stretch his legs. After training he has a great recall and he is so happy to be able to run free! We have been able to recall him from a chase with a rabbit and a bird which I don’t think was possible before. I was nervous Goose would come back a robot and lose his personality and his energy for walks, but that is not the case at all. I found Lora and Winnabow Training through the Pitt County Animal Shelter, which is where we adopted Goose. Lora is amazing and so kind! She was so communicative the entire time he was there. She talked with me on the phone for probably 30 minutes and answered all of my questions prior to even signing Goose up for the program. We then met her for a walk so she could meet Goose and observe him before he came to her program. The dogs in her program stay with her and he was even able to get some playtime in with the other dogs there, which I loved! When he came back, Lora did a detailed hands-on lesson for us on everything Goose has learned. Lora also does some boarding and Goose is going back to board in a few weeks because we loved our training experience so much. My biggest suggestion for people who are looking into board and train programs would be to interview the trainer and make sure they and their training style are the right fit for you and your pet! And Winnabow was just that for us!

Lora at Winnabow K9 Board and Train LLC was amazing to work with. Nyx needed some on and off leash manners as well as jumping and being more confident, among other things. We like hiking and going on adventures with Nyx so we wanted her to have a good foundation for training since unfortunately she wouldn’t listen to us no matter what we tired. Lora did amazing work with her, when we got her back she was the same derpy dog but with better manners and a lot more confidence. The daily updates Lora sent us where the highlight of my day and seeing Nyx grow and learn new things was a truly beautiful thing. It was scary at first sending my pup away but seeing her happy and wagging her tail in every update picture and video put my heart at ease. I highly recommend going to her for proper training and amazing results!! P.S. Lora dressed Nyx up for 4th of July and it’s my absolute favorite picture!!

We could not be more pleased with Lora and Winnabow’s training services. Our 4 year old Shih Tzu went to “Camp Lora” (as we called it) for a 3 week On and Off Leash program. He’s always been a snuggly, good-ish boy, but we wanted to get him a foundation for really following directions and being the best boy he could be - and we knew we were out of our league. From our initial meet and greet to when we were reunited, Lora was a dream! She was responsive and communicative with every step, as well as VERY patient with all of our questions. :) She’s so knowledgeable and never makes you feel dumb for your ignorance. We loved the updates she provided throughout the program - not only just with videos and pics, but also with explanations to help us learn and understand what we were seeing. When she brought him back to us upon completion, she stayed with us for a few hours teaching us so much so we could continue with his great progress. She also went above and beyond explaining his e-collar and helping us practice with it. Before this program, Oliver could sit-ish (sometimes) and that was about it… now he can sit, stay, come, place, heel, and more. We are gobsmacked at the difference! Beyond the quality of training received, the love and passion Lora has for animals is evident. We knew Oliver would be just as loved by Lora as he is at home - 10/10 stars - 100% recommend!

There aren’t enough stars to give Lora. Our 4 1/2 month Mini Bernedoodle Chloe went to Lora’s puppy program (I told people she was at Basic Training) where she spent 2 weeks focusing on positive puppy behavior. Chloe now walks on a leash, knows how to stay (not her favorite thing to do), goes to “place” while we’re eating, and knows her name. She comes when we call her, huge win! Lora makes training fun, Chloe actually enjoys it when we practice what she’s learned. I’m so impressed with Lora and her program. Best money I ever spent! Definitely recommend very highly!!!
