I got my dog, Zeus when he was 5 weeks old. He was always a very good dog, but he was always very nervous and reactive around people and animals. When I got pregnant in 2022 it only got worse. After I had my daughter Zeus became very territorial over me and started showing signs of barrier aggression as well as his reactivity getting worse. Zeus racked up a bite history, including my daughter and I didn't know what to do. This dog is my first baby, and he was a part of our family, thinking about getting rid of him was gut-wrenching. I started looking up aggression rehabilitation programs and after going through every single page that popped up, I landed on Lora. From the second she reached out (her response time was immaculate) she showed so much empathy and never judged the situation which is the one thing I feared the most. We set up a date for pick up and she got all the information on Zeus and his history. On the day of pick up, she was so patient with him and me and explained everything they would be going over in training, and off he went. Every other day I would receive a photo or video of my boy and the progress he was making and what they were working on. Everyone who I showed the photos and videos was amazed at how happy he looked and the progress he was making. I NEVER worried once about my boy while he was in Lora's care. She treated him as if he were her own the whole time and always kept me updated. Today he was dropped off and Lora went over every single thing she taught him in training, showed me how to properly use the e-collar and put on his muzzle, and watched to make sure I was doing all commands properly with him. From the second he got out of that car, I could tell he was a different dog in the best way possible. In the few hours I have had him home, I have seen so much change and progress with him. My dog can now happily live in his own home again without me being nervous that something is going to happen. Lora is phenomenal and her prices are AMAZING compared to others in the area with all that she offers. I will recommend her over and over again. I cannot thank her enough for the hard work she put into training Zeus and for being so patient with me. I can’t say enough great things about Lora! She is so genuine with her work and it is very clear how much she cares about helping you and your dog. She is accommodating, quick to respond to communication, and is so understanding and kind. I came to her with my reactive German shepherd mix who had absolutely no leash-walking skills and always reacted to a dog. I originally signed him up for the 4 week reactivity program but due to some life events, I had to change it to two weeks. Lora was completely open and honest that there would still be work that would need to be done once he came back home since he wouldn’t be getting the full course. She was so willing to accommodate and make sure to target my main goals for better leash walking and reducing reactivity during the two weeks she had him. Throughout the course, she sent updates with a picture every other day which were always so informative about what they've been working on and what progress has been made. I was more than pleased when we got him back! On drop-off day, she reviewed everything and ensured I understood all the information and was comfortable and confident with continuing training at home. As we’ve continued working, he walks in a perfect heel position (rather than taking me for a walk), and his reactivity to dogs while on walks has reduced SIGNIFICANTLY (most of the time no reaction at all). As she had informed me before the training, there would still be work that would need to be done after, so there are a few times when we have to work through a reaction but even then it’s only a fraction of what would’ve happened before training. Lora has continued to be an amazing resource for any questions/concerns/guidance as I continue working with him on my own. An amazing person and an amazing trainer!

We adopted Mikey, our english cocker spaniel, in March of 2023. He was four years old, but was coming out of a rough situation where he wasn't well cared for. Mikey had high anxiety, separation anxiety, had multiple in-home bathroom accidents, and wasn't adjusting well to the move from a quiet suburb to the noisy distractions and crowds of people in downtown Raleigh. A friend referred us to Lora at Winnabow K9 Board & Train, and we enrolled Mikey in her three week on leash training program. We dropped off a distracted, traumatized, anxious dog that was scared of everything and everyone, including his own shadow. Three weeks later we picked up a more confident, happier, well behaved little guy that we can now leave alone in the house for extended periods of time without him barking or making a mess of things. Lora transformed our dog - and us. Along the way she shared pictures and videos of his progress which was super fun and informative to watch. She also worked with us (first time dog parents!) to ensure that we understood how to maintain Mikey's training for a smooth transition back home. Mikey has come a long way, and we're super grateful to Lora for helping us along on this journey. We highly recommend Lora to anyone looking for boarding and training for their dogs!
