Elissa helped me enormously in an intensive two-hour session of what is truly the best behavioral conditioning I've ever studied or learned from anyone. My Pomeranian's behavior instantly shifted, and what I just learned will be essential in creating a better environment for both of us. As in human relationships, clear communication reaps huge benefits when a human begins to understand how her behavior is understood by a dog. We worked with Neil when we first adopted our 4yo labradoodle on behavioral issues, specifically his anxiety (we couldn’t leave him alone when we first got him because he’d howl and cry the entire time), but also meeting other dogs and barking. Neil was fantastic in listening to us and catering his training specifically to our dog’s needs. He was very thorough in his explanations and patient in working with two new dog owners (one who’d never owned a pet and was previously afraid of dogs). Neil was very communicative, available in between sessions, answering questions and providing additional insight and advice and assuring us that our dog’s anxiety wasn’t so bad and was definitely something that could be improved. Neil’s training was a massive asset; because of him, our dog’s anxiety has substantially decreased, he no longer howls when left alone and can be alone for over 3 hours at a time. He’s great meeting other dogs and while we’re still working on the barking, it’s noticeably improved. We’re continuously referencing Neil’s training methodologies and insight as we continue to work with our dog and it’s continued to pay off. Highly recommend Neil and Zen Dog! We brought our wild and energetic Malinois mix puppy to the Zen Dog Training group puppy class and had a great experience! Gordon was our trainer and from day 1 made the classes really fun. We learned good tricks to keep in our back pocket for leash walking, socialization, desensitization to scary things, and name recognition to name a few. Most of all we felt very understood and supported by Gordon as new puppy parents. Also Gordon is hilarious and just the nicest person you’ll meet.
