Zen Dog Training

We couldn't recommend this class more! Gordon was fantastic each week, and our pup, Boomer, developed so quickly once we started following the Zen Dog training guidelines. Gordon was always available to answer any questions we had about particular training issues, and we also booked a session where Gordon came to our apartment and helped show us how to keep Boomer under control and learning. Class each week was playful and informative; Boomer started very timid but by the end was in the mix playing with other dogs, and he's been far more social ever since. His play biting is totally under control, he's more obedient, and the class gave us the tools to continue raising a happy, healthy, obedient pup! 10/10, definitely recommend to any new puppy owner!

I cannot write enough positive words about our experience with Neil Simmons from Zen Dog. He has been amazing in helping our family dog overcome severe separation anxiety. I rescued a dog last summer who was 8 months old and somewhere during the rescue process he developed such severe separation anxiety it was negatively impacting my family’s ability to leave the house. Our little fella chewed through and ultimately broke out of 6 different crates (multiple styles: metal/plastic, didn’t matter), would salivate what felt like gallons when we were gone, would herd us at the door trying to keep us from leaving, would jump against the door to our garage over and over putting himself at risk for injury when I would walk out the door (even just to bring out the garbage) and would follow us everywhere in the house to have “eyes on us” all the time. I interviewed 5 different trainers who dealt with severe separation anxiety, and Neil from Zen Dog offered the most practical approach that would work for our very busy family schedule but also had a personal experience with his own dog with this condition which I felt to be so helpful in understanding how hard this is on both dog and owner. While it’s taken many training sessions the last few months with Neil and lots of practice with exercises, our dog has fully overcome his separation anxiety to the point I can let him wander all day through the house alone when we’re at work and he doesn’t show signs of distress or destruction. I never believed we would get here and we owe it all to Neil. If anyone has a dog with severe separation anxiety and needs help, I would highly recommend both Neil and Zen Dog. He absolutely worked magic!
