Hi Ms. Ruth Anne, I appreciate your honest review and would love the chance to meet with you and discuss our curriculum in more detail. You did opt to continue in our basic class with Aliana and from our notes she did well overall. Our first class is for explaining basic learning theory to clients and working on their overall handling skills as this is key to long term success. We do start all training using food as this is the scientific way to build and teach the foundations of behaviors. Once this is done, we use other rewards to continue to reinforce behaviors - including toys, praise, and life rewards. This is also known as R+ (Positive Reinforcement), P+ actually means positive punishment which is adding something to decrease a behavior (like using a pinch collar to decrease pulling). Our philosophy is that if we as handlers do not take the time to teach the foundation skills before using aversive methods, then we are doing our dogs a disservice. This must happen first. When you build a relationship with your dog based on mutual respect, your dog will happily perform for you and training will be enjoyable. Our online course is accessible to all clients in our group classes. I apologize that you did not receive the email and we would have happily resent the information if we would have known before now. Ultimately we rely on communication from you along the way to make sure we are doing everything we need to do to make sure you and your pup have the best experience. I would also be happy to reprint your graduation certificate as I know it was not intentional for it to be misspelled. Our classes are $175 for 5 weeks which comes out to $35 per class. Classes consist of an hour with our trainers going over basic cues, how to teach them, how to proof them, and assisting clients with working with their dogs. The majority of training is going to occur at home with the owners using that information. With all of the information we give during class, we feel that amount is fair. For a more personalized training experience, we recommend different services, especially if you feel that your dog is further along in their training. Aliana did need some work around other dogs and she did bark because of her excitement, so we agree that the socialization was very good for her. I do feel that the trainers deserve more than 2 stars given that they spent ample time with you both including the time to allow Aliana to socialize with our office cats past the time of the group class with no charge. We really enjoyed working with you both and look forward to the chance to work with you again in the future. Please consider our other programs that may be more geared to what you are looking for.
