Acadia Canine Academy

What an amazing experience adopting a puppy from acadia. It's hard to summarize such an amazing experience into words. The training the puppy has from acadia, has made coming home such a comfortable and enjoyable experience. I cannot say enough great things about acadia canine. This was an experience that has set a future standard for me. The temperament, love, training, and personality the puppy we adopted is nothing short of alot of hard work provided by acadia. One of the few perfect experiences to be had in life. They are the real deal for training, and if you're lucky enough to adopt a puppy from them and you're a working dog lover you will be enthralled by the experience. Top notch, not enough good can be said.

ACA should be at the top of everyone's list when considering dog training. It is very clear the passion Jim and his team have for training and caring for the dogs left in their care. The fact he doesn't use nor believe in e-collars was a big decision for me to send my dog to him. Yes, it takes a little more effort to train & maintain behaviors but it's worth it knowing i'm not having to physically harm my dog for him to behave. You have to realize that as the owner, you have to train yourself as much as you train your dog. Jim does a wonderful job explaining how to do this and why it's important. As someone who lives in a city, I loved giving my dog the opportunity to experience a large yard to play around with. It was more like sending him to sleep away camp than boarding school.

I am beyond disappointed with Acadia K9 Academy and the so-called training services they provided for my mini dachshund, Frankie. Despite their grand promises, Frankie has not shown any improvement in his behavior after a month of training and a hefty $4,000 fee. From the start, I explicitly informed Jim that my demanding job in finance did not allow me the time or energy to house-train Frankie myself. This was the primary reason I entrusted Acadia K9 Academy with his training. However, not only has Frankie failed to learn any of the behaviors they assured me he would, but I am now left doing Jim’s job—taking Frankie out every 45 minutes to prevent accidents and dealing with his incessant howling in his crate every night and whenever I leave. Frankie returned home exactly the same as when he left. There has been no progress in his training, and it is clear that Jim did not accomplish any of the goals we discussed. I am now stuck retraining my dog from scratch, effectively throwing $4,000 down the drain. Acadia K9 Academy has proven to be utterly incompetent and untrustworthy. Save yourself the frustration, time, and money—look elsewhere for a dog trainer who can actually deliver on their promises.
