Affordable Dog and Puppy Training

Okay WOW! I was convinced I had a dog so stubborn nobody could train. Boy was a wrong. Lisa is seriously a dog whisperer. I booked a private training session, and within minutes of entering our home Lisa had my stubborn dachshund listening and attentive. We learned techniques to deal with his reactive behavior and how to walk better on leash. I tried the techniques the following day and it was a night and day difference. Highly recommend!!!

Lisa is very knowledgeable on dog behaviors and targeting specific behaviors to correct them. I reached out to Lisa and did a one on one session with my dog who was considered aggressive towards other dogs and people. Within the first few minutes, Lisa identified that my dog was not aggressive and more defensive. She talked me through his behaviors, showed me how to correct his defensive behaviors on a leash and then let me try. As I was working with my dog, she gave feedback when needed. By the end of the session my dog was meeting one of her dogs and walking next to him without any defensive behaviors! She also taught me the correct way to introduce him to other dogs. I am very grateful I was recommended Lisa! We have been using the skills we were taught and have seen continued improvement.

I started training with Lisa and Affordable Dog and Puppy Training in December 2022. She calls it dog training, I call it human training. Dogs know how to be dogs, humans need to learn how to train dogs in ways that the dogs understand. My pup, Charlie, and I started with basic puppy obedience and continued with the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) training. Even though Charlie passed the CGC test long ago, we continue to attend the class for many reasons, including helping with other's training their dogs to be able to walk through a crowd peacefully, to not react to other dogs, and to not react to distractions. It's a great opportunity for Charlie to socialize in a safe environment. (FYI, Charlie is a service dog, and we did 90% of her obedience training with Lisa.)

I has Lisa come to my home for a one-on-one training session. One of my concerns was my dogs jumping behaviors, and I told her this prior to their introduction. She asked if she could correct my dog, and I said yes, absolutely. Within the first few corrections, my dog understood what the expectation was and was given positive reinforcement for the expected behavior. Lisa taught me about how to correct and then show the expectation. I also had concerns about meeting other dogs, and reactivity on leash. Lisa has one of her dogs with her, so we were able to work on this. She gave me strategies to work on with my dog, and then our dogs eventually were playing around off leash together having a blast. I was a little nervous at first, just never hiring a trainer before, but I was very pleased with the session. I feel like I have more strategies and understanding of how to lead my dog. She was also very affordable for the one hour session! I would absolutely recommend you to try her out if you're considering it! She is very knowledgeable, direct, and communicates the WHY for her actions or training techniques, which is super important to me in how I learn.
