How do I potty train my new dog?
At Agoge K9 LLC, we understand that potty training your new dog can be a challenging and time-consuming process. However, with the right techniques and consistent effort, you can successfully potty train your pup and establish good habits that will last a lifetime.
The first step in potty training your dog is establishing a consistent routine. This means feeding your dog at the same times each day and taking them outside for potty breaks on a regular schedule. Most puppies will need to go outside to potty every 2-3 hours and shortly after waking up, after meals, and before bedtime.
When you take your dog outside for potty breaks, it's important to choose a designated spot and use a specific command, such as "go potty," to help them understand what you want them to do. Be patient and give them ample time to sniff around and find the right spot.
Consistency is key in potty training, so reward your dog with plenty of praise and treats when they go potty in the right spot. On the other hand, if your dog has an accident inside, it's important to clean it up thoroughly and avoid punishing them, as this can lead to anxiety and other behavioral issues.
Finally, it's essential to supervise your dog closely when inside, especially during the early stages of potty training. This may mean keeping them in a crate or confined area when you cannot supervise them directly.
At Agoge K9 LLC, we offer a variety of training programs to help you and your dog establish good habits and overcome behavioral challenges. Our experienced trainers can work with you to develop a customized training plan that meets your specific needs and goals. Contact us today to learn more about our services and how we can help you and your dog succeed.

Choosing the right dog for your family can be daunting, but with careful consideration and research, you can find the perfect match. Here are some tips from Agoge K9 LLC to help you choose the right dog for your family:
Consider your lifestyle: Before choosing a dog, consider your lifestyle and what type of dog would fit in best. Do you have an active lifestyle and enjoy spending time outdoors? Then a high-energy dog like a Border Collie or a Labrador Retriever might be a good fit. A smaller dog, like a Chihuahua or a French Bulldog, might be better if you live in an apartment with limited space.
Consider your family members: If you have young children, it's important to choose a gentle and patient dog with kids. Breeds like Golden Retrievers, Labradors, and Beagles are known for their friendly and playful personalities and are great with kids.
Research breeds: Research different breeds to learn about their temperament, exercise needs, and health issues. This will help you narrow down your choices and choose a breed that fits your family well.
Consider adopting a dog from a local animal shelter or rescue group. These dogs are often already trained and socialized, and adopting a dog can be a rewarding experience.
Meet the dog: Once you have narrowed your choices, spend time with the dog before bringing them home. This will allow you to see if the dog is a good fit for your family and if you are a good fit for the dog.
Remember, choosing the right dog for your family is important and should not be taken lightly. You can find the perfect match for your family with careful consideration and research. If you have trouble training your dog, seek professional help from a qualified dog trainer at Agoge K9 LLC.

What are some common behavior problems in dogs, and how do I prevent them?
As a dog owner, it is important to be aware of common behavior problems that can arise in dogs and take preventative measures to address them. Here are some common behavior problems in dogs and ways to prevent them:
1. Aggression - Aggression in dogs can result from fear, anxiety, territorial behavior, or poor socialization. To prevent aggression, it is important to socialize your dog from a young age, avoid harsh punishments, and seek professional help if aggression becomes a problem.
2. Separation anxiety - Dogs with separation anxiety may become destructive or anxious when left alone. To prevent separation anxiety, gradually introduce your dog to being alone, provide plenty of exercises and mental stimulation, and consider crate training.
3. Excessive barking - Excessive barking can be a nuisance to you and your neighbors. To prevent excessive barking, provide adequate exercise and mental stimulation, teach your dog a “quiet” command, and avoid rewarding barking behavior.
4. Destructive chewing - Dogs may engage in destructive chewing behavior out of boredom, anxiety, or a lack of proper chew toys. To prevent destructive chewing, provide plenty of appropriate chew toys, supervise your dog whenever needed, and provide plenty of exercise and mental stimulation.
5. Jumping up - Dogs may jump up on people out of excitement or a desire for attention. To prevent jumping up, teach your dog to sit or stay when greeting people, avoid rewarding jumping behavior, and provide plenty of exercises and mental stimulation.
Being aware of common behavior problems and taking preventative measures can ensure your dog is well-behaved and happy. If you are having trouble addressing any behavior problems in your dog, seek professional help from a qualified dog trainer or behaviorist like Agoge K9 LLC.

As a dog training and boarding company, Agoge K9 LLC understands the importance of proper nutrition for your new furry family member. The right diet is essential for maintaining your dog's health and well-being. When selecting food for your dog, it's essential to consider their age, breed, activity level, and any health conditions they may have. Generally, a high-quality, balanced diet that meets your dog's nutritional needs is key.
One option is to feed your dog with commercial food that meets the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) standards. These foods have been formulated to provide your dog with the appropriate balance of nutrients. Look for a high-quality protein source as the main ingredient, such as chicken, beef, or fish. Avoid foods with fillers or byproducts, as these do not provide the same level of nutrition.
You can also consider a raw food diet consisting of raw meat, fruits, and vegetables. This diet can provide a variety of health benefits for your dog, including improved digestion, healthier skin and coat, and a stronger immune system. However, it is important to properly handle and prepare raw food to avoid any health risks for both you and your dog.
No matter what type of diet you choose for your dog, always provide them with fresh, clean water and monitor their weight and overall health. Consult with a veterinarian or a canine nutritionist to determine the best diet for your dog.

I would 100% recommend Agoge K9. Was looking for dog trainers in area and after doing some research I decided to go with Agoge. Not once did I regret that decision. From the very beginning Brian was very helpful with all of my questions and requests. The weekly videos were also amazing because you not only can see your dog doing okay, but you also get to learn why there doing what there doing in order to help you better understand your dog.
Brian was also extremely flexible when I needed to pick up my dog for a few weeks in the middle of training. He didnt even hesitate when I requested this to happen.
Truly amazing experience and I couldnt be happier with my experience/results. If your looking for the best spot for your dog, Agoge is the way to go.

Great communication! Got our doggie trained and she’s been doing great! They really care about getting what you want done. I would say it’s a tad bit expensive but over all worth it.

I can't say enough good things about Agoge! From the jump I was very nervous to send my (at the time) 10 week old puppy to a three week board and train. However, as soon as I talked to the owner Brian and just how he speaks about dogs I knew my baby would be in great hands. Our boy Hercules came out so well behaved and he is set up for a lifetime of success. His trainer, also named Brian, was amazing and you can tell how much he truly cares about dogs too. We got weekly update videos and I loved that. We have had our baby home for about a month now and it still blows my mind how well trained he is to be not even five months old. Cannot recommend Agoge K9 enough!!

We are at the beginning of our training journey, but I know we’ll succeed because of the Agoge Team.
We are only on day 1 of our dog Chase being home after a 4 week board & train for obedience to help with reactivity. I wanted to write a review already because the level of care and support from Abe, our dog’s trainer, and from Brian are beyond what I ever expected. Their support in training Chase, but also ensuring I learn what I need to succeed alongside my dog are the reason I will recommend this team to anyone who needs dog training. This isn’t a program of your dog goes to learn commands/obedience, you get shown what to do, and an “okay good luck”. This program is a lifetime commitment to you and your dog from the Agoge team. They truly care.
The board & train 4 weeks for us: I expected to have anxiety the entire time Chase was away from home, not knowing what was going on. The drop off meeting with Brian immediately put me at ease. He took the time to get to know all the ins and outs of Chase and the issues we were having. I felt I had the time to get to know Brian and I didn’t feel rushed through the process. We received weekly update videos explaining what they’ve been working on over the week and how our dog was progressing. There were a few occasions I had to reach out to the team over the 4 weeks and they responded quickly to help each time. My husband and I can’t say enough good things about this entire experience. I am incredibly grateful I found them to help us.

I brought my 2 year old pitbull rescue to Brian and his team back in February. It was worth every penny! Mabel was a sweet dog, but had no structure and no manners. Not only did Agoge train my dog, they trained me on how to make her successful once she got back home. Mabel and I walk the neighborhood every morning. My neighbors have commented on the difference they see in her behavior and how well she is doing. We can take her on outings and have confidence that she will behave. The training is an investment, but one I am very pleased I made. The facility is clean and safe. My dog was healthy and in excellent physical condition when she came home. I would not hesitate to take Mabel back for boarding or refresher training in the future. Highly recommend.
