Our border collie Swiffer really benefited from working with Michele and Nicole. As owners, we also learned a lot on how to properly train a border collie and the type of structure this breed needs to thrive. We really appreciated our one on one sessions with Nicole. We could see Swiffer really connected and respected her. These sessions were also great for us to ask questions and improve how we train our dog. We definitely would recommend AK Dog Works!

Michele and Nicole are amazing trainers! They have helped us and our German Shepherd Dogs learn to work as a team. They are encouraging and patient trainers who adapt their strategies to each dog and situation. Our oldest needed some work on separation anxiety and reactivity. Our youngest (still intact male) needed help interacting appropriately with new dogs and recovering from a loose dog attack. And we all needed help walking safely and calmly together and adapting to a cross-country move. Alaska Dog Works has helped us work through these and other issues. People stop me all the time on our walks to compliment how well trained the dogs are. Their programs are an investment, but totally worth it to have well-behaved dogs!

If you're looking to improve your connection with your dog, this is the company for you. I appreciated the individualized planning and sessions, as well as the group classes; everything was a teaching and learning opportunity with the right mindset. Nicole and Michele are knowledgeable and experienced, but they won't sugar coat things for you: they will let you know how your behaviors have a big impact on your dogs behaviors and in turn, how to better interact and live with your dog so that you can have the kind of dog you want. We've gone to them for training with a Samoyed puppy, and an adult mini-goldendoodle, and it has been a great experience all around working with them. Overall, a great company, but be warned: it's not a "here take my dog and fix them," it's a "let's work together to get your dog behaving in a way that works for you, but as the human, you need to be willing to put in the work, too." I wish more dog owners understood dogs the way Nicole and Michele do.
