American K-9 Interdiction

My experiences as a student in the handler trainer program were amazing. The program gives you the tools needed to be a successful handler and the building blocks to be a successful dog trainer. The instructors were all amazing and they all had something different to bring to the table. Tobias is a very knowledgeable and patient instructor with many years of experience to share. If your interested in police dog training Kenny is the man you want to see, putting out dogs working in departments making massive strides in keeping drugs off the streets. Jared is another amazing instructor that makes you excited to come to class with his upbeat attitude and willingness and eagerness to help you improve your skills even on his off time. Stephan is another person of mention, his abundant amount of knowledge and willingness to be brutally honest to ensure you know where to improve is impressive in today's age. The kennel staff are constantly going above and beyond for the school dogs and personal pets that are there, my pet Stitch stayed there as I attended the program and he was treated like family. I can't say I have a bad thing to say about the school or staff. Living with strangers in close quarters will drive up animosity between students and drama will arise from it, just remember why you want to attend the program and try to make friends along the way. Best decision for dog training schools that doesn't disappoint, and I couldn't be happier with my decision to attend in the September 2025 class.

I had the pleasure of attending the 13 week Handler/Trainer course. My instructor “JARED” straight professional, has an extensive background in this K9 industry very knowledgeable on all things dog. Everything I learned in this course helped prepare me and my K9’s Bo and Tuba for real world employment opportunities with multiple companies. Having both EDD and NDD K9’s have been amazing I can’t thank the Team at AK9I enough!!!!

Let me start by saying how truly disappointed I was. I have malinois that requires specific care due to its breed. Everyone knows that have energy for days. My dog is just that, my dog. He is fine around people and other dogs as long as you don’t try to pet/ touch him(stranger to him). So I’ve been looking for a boarding location who has experience with working breeds which is no easy task, so I can go on vacation in a few months. I found one but since my dog bit someone when he was young they wouldn’t take him but did recommend AK9i which is a training facility that works with the working breeds. I reached out and spoke to Ryan who is the kennel manager and explained all my concerns. She reassured me that he would do well there and specifically said that if he gets”testy” they have trainers at the facility who can handle him. After our conversation and all of her reassurance I decided to schedule a trial weekend, drop off Friday and pickup Monday. So the day came for drop off and we agreed on a time. I get there she’s not there, just a kennel hand. I put him in his assigned kennel with his bed which took up most of the kennel. While I was speaking with the kennel hand she informs me that he’s a red card and they’ll be using the guillatine method. Now I’m really confused , what does this mean? He can’t leave the kennel and to clean it they move him to another kennel by lifting attached door. So your telling me he’s going to be in this small kennel with no exercise for 3 days? Definitely not. I asked where Ryan was and she wasn’t do for another 30 minutes so I waited. When she arrived I spoke to her about the situation and she reassured he would be fine, she’d evaluate him, etc. I also explained that his basic commands are in French and that I provided a list with how to pronounce.. she stated no problem we have someone who speaks French so no worries.. I did explain again that he doesn’t like to be touched by strangers, just give the command and he will do. I provided, food, treats, toys…. I thought I’d give it a try so I left him there and called later to see how things were going. Was told that he growled at Ryan and he was still in kennel. Was not feeling good about things. I looked at the website again and realized that non of that was so… it stated kennels were large with dog house and a cot, ability to spend a lot of time outside, didn’t see any of that unless it was a different kennel. I went to pick him up Saturday morning and the only one there was a young kennel hand. My dogs water was yellow (guess he lifted his leg in the kennel and got the bucket but how long was it like that) . His food(breakfast was in a box located in front of kennel that he had to crawl under to reach(was not finished probably cause he couldn’t get it). His bed was soaked in urine( had to throw away), and he was wet with urine from lying on the floor or bed. I asked the kennel hand where Ryan was, he said she didn’t come in until Monday. That’s when I realized my dog was going to be in this situation until Monday when I pick him up. She was supposed to be there overseeing this from what she assured me of… I took my dog home on Saturday and I have yet to receive a call from Ryan or anyone in reference to his stay. Needless to say I do not recommend boarding your dog at this facility. So truly disappointed!!!!!!
