Dewayne is amazing! He trained our older pup a couple of years ago and did a wonderful job! So when we were considering getting a puppy he was the first person I called. He was great about helping us decide what program we would benefit from the most, accommodating our schedule, and giving very detailed report cards each day. We definitely wanted a good heel and recall but also casually mentioned that begging for food was seemingly becoming a problem with the puppy. At turnover we were very impressed with how well she followed commands but it wasn't until we got home, we realized she wasn't paying any attention to us while eating dinner. The next night I accidentally dropped food on the floor right beside her and she didn't budge. We were already thrilled with the results but this was an unexpected bonus! It's abundantly clear that Dewayne is very passionate about what he does and it shows through his work.

We could not have asked for a better training experience for our dog, Pete. Pete refused to walk on a leash and tried to dash out the front door every time it opened. We found DeWayne through other local recommendations. We took several lessons with DeWayne where he trained both Pete, and us! DeWayne trains with admirable compassion towards dogs. He uses play and love to motivate and reward, which we felt was a wonderful training method, as opposed to food or punishment. Within two months, our training sessions had wonderful results. Pete happily walks the neighborhood and obeys commands. He will also take his place on the stairs and remains in place while we open the front door. I highly recommend him to any dog owner looking for training and guidance.

I contact Dwayne regarding the misbehavior of my two German Shepards. The two had began to destroy my back yard when I was not present. The destruction they caused resulted in me having to pay a hefty penny for repairs, somethings I dreaded. Nonetheless, Dwaynes, provided insight on the cause of their recent behavior, in that it was likely due to me not spending quality time with them, as I once did. In closing, I turned back the hands of time and I know longer have problems with them. It's like old happy times. I re-dedicated my time with them just as Dwayne recommended at by doing so, my relationship with my boys has enhancer. Not is Dwayne an awesome trainer, he was very honest when it came to my request to have them receive refresher training. He didn't want me to pay for this service without trying to re-engage with boys. It worked and I was able to save. Dwayne you are awesome. Thank you so much.

Anchor Up K9 Academy is amazing! They have been awesome at helping us train our new pup and GSD. Dewayne is so patient and knowledgeable and we have really enjoyed working with him and will continue to do so. Not only is he knowledgeable about basic, advanced, etc training he also is very knowledgeable about the psychology of dogs which is hard to find. He is also amazing at working with reactive dogs and rehabilitating them. We cannot say enough good things about them and please reach out to them if you are in need of a skilled and competent trainer.

We had a great experience with DeWayne Anchor Up. Our dog Oslo came back from the board-and-train experience completely changed and so much better behaved. Prior to training, we would typically have to crate him and deploy baby gates to avoid conflicts with the kids. He's now well-behaved and responsive to commands. Walks are far more pleasant as well since he no longer pulls. While he was away, the highlight of our day were the evening report cards and videos showing how well Oslo was progressing and keeping us informed on what commands and behaviors he was learning. He'd also frequently pop-up on Instagram living his best life visiting all sorts of places around Hampton Roads as part of his training! A week after Oslo returned home, DeWayne came by to check-in and reinforce the training in his home environment(with most of it being focused on us...Oslo still knew his stuff). The training is worth it and we highly recommend Anchor Up!
