Before I begin, I want to start off by admitting, that I was not fully on board with training our puppy, we are first time dog owners and I knew nothing and was very hesitant to begin training. I was uneducated on the matter, and my girlfriend basically dragged me to our consultation with Marth. I was scared of my puppy changing in a negative manner. He was such a happy puppy, and always super energetic and playful. Not sure why I thought any of this was going to change but I wasn’t fully on board. After our first meeting with Marth, I immediately felt better because he seemed like a very straight up and genuine person, he was very sweet to Kobe, and didn’t beat around the bush. When we started, Kobe our puppy would tug on his leash and be super energetic at all times. He would get overly excited when he would see other dogs on the street, to the point that he would choke himself if we didn’t follow him. At times he would even walk on his hind legs because we would try to pull him in the other direction away from the other dogs. Which was one of our main concerns, and one of the main reasons we decided to train with Marth. Fast forward to 12 sessions later, and Kobe is off-leash and has learned a handful of new tricks. He is now very obedient, and crazy enough even happier than he was when we started. I thought he would have less freedom when we started his training, but he has way more freedom than he could ever have without the training. I am so proud when our friends and family see the progress and all the new tricks we have learned. I couldn’t be more proud. Another thing, I have to be honest about is, I trusted marth at every step of our training, but I was always a bit hesitant when trying new methods for training. Examples are the slip leash, and e-collar. Before we started our training we would also use a harness because as I said Kobe would choke himself, so we decided to use a harness. Marth suggested we switch to slip leash, and I was a bit hesitant. After the first session with the slip leash I realized that it was effective and nothing to be scared of. Same goes with the e-collar. It is a very helpful tool, and it helped with reinforcement. Having gone through this training already, I can see that Marth would never use or teach anything that is not good, or helpful for your pet. This whole process has brought me closer to our puppy and even my girlfriend, as we have worked together to get Kobe to where he is. In reality Marth doesn’t train dogs, he trains owners. If you are hesitant or have a partner or someone else that may be hesitant, show them this. I was scared, worried and very hesitant. My girlfriend asked me to do the training for almost 2 months until I gave in to go to the consultation, she said if I wasn’t comfortable with doing it after that then it was fine, but once you meet Marth, you will realize that with him, what you see is what you get. If you are willing to put in the time and effort, you will not regret the decision to train with him, and you will get way more than what you paid for. All in all, the best decision I have ever made, was to convince my girlfriend to get him trained. I bet she wishes she could take the credit. Hahaha. Just Kidding! Honestly though, I wish we would have done it sooner. Marth is the best!
