Bark Busters Home Dog Training - Greenville SC

It's unfortunate that I have to reach out with this complaint. I, a newly puppy owner came across Bark Busters about a month and a half ago and was eagerly excited for the services. I had a few concerns about Trainer Larry in the Greenville SC area based on some of the comments that I read about his communication and engagement with some dog owners, but I thought to give it a try anyway. During our first session he allowed my puppy to poop on someone else's lawn after l asked him not to do that as it is one of my boundaries. A few times he has rudely cut me off while talking, which he did so yesterday at the beginning of our third visit, however I let it go. Towards the end of our session yesterday I was telling him a story about a casual conversation I had with a stranger and asked for his opinion on whether I should give my dog a treat for checking in with me. His response was disrespectful, rude, belittling and just plain uncalled for. He immediately cut me off again in an aggressive tone and told me that he is my trainer and that he will refund me for talking to anyone else because that is not how Bark Buster does business and that’s not what I pay him for. I have never went to anyone else for advice and I have always followed any suggestions he made. I am not his child and I expect respect which I said so. I was completely caught off guard as I was just sharing a casual story and wondering what he thought . He clearly has insufficient people skills and is on an ego trip. You should be able to trust your dog trainer with asking them for their advice, especially if you have never went against it. Had he allowed me to continue talking, he would have saw that all I was doing was asking for his opinion. I understand this is a big organization, however he will be the reason for a down fall in Greenville SC. I am not the first customer he has responded negatively towards unprovoked and with his lack of accountability, I probably wont be the last. Years of experience with dogs does not trump his people skills towards dog owners. Is this the kind of trainer you want dog owners to experience? Especially in or around their home?Do better.

Larry helped our household greatly. We have two dogs, but our bulldog has been our behavioral priority as he is about 100lbs but thinks he's 10. He was dangerous due to his severe anxiety and size, and we were terrified that we were going to need to find a new home for him. We have a baby and had to create separation of the living spaces due to the safety risks, but Larry helped us bring more unity back into the home, SAFELY. He provided us with the tools we needed to gain control again of our situation, where we can all share a happy living space now. We have been able to curb a lot of our dog's anxiety by being confident in our commands, so our anxiety has lifted too. Larry also helped us with something we never thought possible: our other dog is now safely able to go on walks without trying to kill other furry babies. :) It is nice knowing if we ever have any questions or have any setbacks, Larry is there to help us work through it. My dog Sophie is a rescue who didn't quite see me as alpha or care to listen to me. Even after the first session with Larry I saw an improvement. His training tactics gently set boundaries that Sophie has continued to follow in our practice sessions and in our life together. He provided all necessary tools for training which were included in the cost. I also have peace of mind knowing that there is lifelong support included in the training cost as well. I definitely recommend Bark Busters for professional dog training.

Update to response. As nice as you are, you need to be honest with yourself and your potential customers. You're not qualified, nor do you try to be, to help with larger breeds. After getting real help from someone with that expertise, it was clear the difference. Just be honest in the future with larger breed owners. You're not the right trainer for them. Thanks. He's a nice enough man, but he's not qualified to work with all breeds. He told us about his successes with smaller dog breeds and retrievers which tend to be easiest to train. But he seemed condescending at times and really not interested. He treated our dog like he didn't want to touch him at all which in hindsight made matters worse, not better. What he did you can get for free on youtube, so no way I could recommend him.
