Big Paws of the Ozarks

I've been a foster for Big Paws and just recently adopted my first dog from them. I love how they work hard to find the right fit for your family and they really care about making sure everything is successful. The free training session that came along with the adoption was also helpful to address a few things I didn't know how to teach our girl. In less than 30 minutes, the trainer had her doing what we needed. It was great!

I’ve had such a great training experience at big paws! I chose Marshall Medlock as my trainer because he had extensive experience in helping reactive dogs, such as my Aussie/border collie mix (Flora) who is reactive towards other dogs. With Marshall’s help, Flora has made such a huge improvement in 4 lessons. He has very calming and relaxed dogs that helped my Flora start to ease some of her dog reactivity. The image below is her first meeting with Dozer (tan dog). I could never have imagined Flora staying in place so close to a strange new dog. Marshall himself is very knowledgeable on dog behavior and how best to approach your dog’s specific issue through behavior modification, training, and psychology. It will still take some time for Flora to be comfortable with every dog, but thanks to Marshall I have a lot of hope that she can become the best dog she can be!

We cannot recommend Marshall at Big Paws of the Ozarks enough! Our dog Diesel recently completed a 2-week board and train program where he stayed with Marshall and his dogs, and the experience was truly amazing! After having a previous poor experience with another board and train company, we were understandably nervous and hesitant to try again. But from our very first meet and greet, we knew Marshall was the perfect fit for Diesel. He immediately put us at ease with his knowledge, patience, and genuine care for the dogs he works with. Throughout the entire program, Marshall went above and beyond by sending daily check-ins, along with videos and pictures, so we always felt connected and reassured. We missed our pup so much, but it made all the difference knowing he was in such great hands. Diesel came home happy, well-cared for, and with noticeable progress. We’re so grateful for Marshall and the incredible experience he provided. Highly, highly recommend!

I don’t know where to start! We adopted Kylo through Big Paws when he was 8 weeks old. We decided to put him through their Board and Train program once he was old enough to set a solid foundation for him. He is a GSD/Australian shepherd mix, and has the paws of a bear (🤣), so we know how important proper training is, not only because of his breed, but because he’ll probably be bigger than us soon, haha. We were paired with Christian, and we couldn’t have asked for a more understanding, caring, and genuinely amazing person to work with Kylo! You can tell he LOVES what he does. We got updates every evening, with pictures and videos. When it was time to pick him up, Christian took his time to explain everything we needed to know and made sure we felt confident and comfortable taking over. Something that sets BPOZ apart is that training doesn’t stop here. Christian made it clear that we have him as a resource for Kylo as long as Kylo is with us. It’s very comforting knowing he has our back if we ever need him.
